Little progress...
Just showing the little progress I've made over the past couple weeks. She is far from done. Almost done with my main bracket. Hmm, where could it be going and what is it for? To be continued....
Gama Goat Trip Anniversary
Well without anything really to report on, I remembered today marks the 1 year anniversary on our journey to pick up this truck from Great Falls, MT. Now, I'm not one of those date remembering emotional cats. Today, I celebrate another day of significance and reminded...
I got a decent truck. He actually had 3-4 more camouflage ones that he sold before mine. They were in awesome shape. I think he got 8 Gama Goats off GSA out of the Idaho Forest Service. Luckily the Forest Service didn't do anything with my truck. It had IFS inventory labels and IFS serial number...
My truck was actually in decent shape. It had a few parts missing. But overall I was pretty happy with the truck. I have a rebuild thread on the Goat if you want to see what I did to her: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?145664-WSUCougarx-s-M561-Gama-Goat-Acquisition-and-Build-Thread...
Sorry just saw you got yours in Jan. I had to really push down with my palm to rotate it. There are three tabs that the horn assy rests against via spring.

I got my Goat from Great Falls as well. In fact it was exactly one year ago today (10-8-15). I got mine from a guy named Shawn. You disassemble the horn by pushing down the button firmly and rotate the horn button assy. It'll release the horn cup of sorts.

Al? You have any prices for us? I ended up re-using my old wheel hub seals. You still wanting to sell the body plug washers? If not let me know and I'll order the min. and make them available.
Small Victories...Lug Wrench!!
In my quest to find and procure parts, any parts found is a small victory with these trucks. I haven't perused the internet for a week or so. Today I decided to check and finally found a lug wrench for the ole Goat. Got this rusty thing for $12. With a little...
Looks like you've been amongst the group for a couple years with only two posts;-) Welcome aboard! Welcome to the Goat herders group. I have an M561 registered and plated for regular highway use. My Goat is listed as a CARGO TRUCK. You've got a great looking truck! PM me for parts you're...
Got another question, does anyone know the prescribed routing of the CX-4723 or other cabling from the carrier to the tractor? Just trying to figure out the correct configuration on how to route the cables.
Detroit Diesel Manuals
Got a nice surprise from a co worker today. Her husband retired from Weyerhauser a few years ago. His job was diesel mechanic and fix it guy for all the equipment in the yard. Well, he accumulated a number of manuals throughout his 30+ years. Now that he's retired, he has...
She was going 60+ plus on the stretch. I swapped the blinker out for a solid state one. I didn't even give the stock blinker unit a try. I figured while I had everything ripped out, it was a good time to replace it.

Looks great! Bonus!! You got the correct sponson as well. I was going to take a break from the Goat. Now I see you're installing radios is getting me inspired to head back out the garage;-). I need to locate one more sponson and I'll be good to go.
