I'd look around at your auto parts store in the "HELP" brand section or whatever they term it at your store for general purpose body parts and springs and all that. Should be some plastic shims, plastic fittings or vinyl grommets you can use. No need to go NSN, unless you're a purist.

Went through the right hand wheel bearings and brakes. It was suffering from water intrusion, and the grease packing looked like caramel fudge. After cleaning it all out I decided to open the left side again, since I did it at night and thought maybe I couldn't see the color of the grease as...
Got the left side wheel opened up to inspect the brake drum and wheel bearing. A return spring for the top of the rear shoe was broken. Ran to Advance Auto and bought a large truck spring hardware bag and modified one of the general purpose springs to fit. Peace of mind gained in an hour's...
Can't argue that HMMWV offroad exhaust won't degrade even faster, and that's a good point to share. I haven't driven with the new decking long, maybe that will be enough. I'm unlikely to get around to wrapping anyway, but will keep your point in mind for sure.

The tunnel decking mentioned is good, and I have noticed an improvement in my rig since I installed the one TheCaptain gave me. It is an official mod, so you can find the patterns if you look I'm sure. Our HMMWVs came from very different states, and his deck screwed into my ride with the exact...
Looks good. The NSN stamped on the bracket is for the HMMWV pioneer tool tray with the extensions and all that. Yours doesn't have them. Did you cut them off or is it a different kit/NSN?
I picked up a Deuce tool tray, which should bolt up if I make some brackets, though it will be crowding...
Thanks Cabell, I'll check out the Lodge's arrangements. My primary plan will be to find someone in that nearby field that will trade horse time for Hmmwv time...

Ditto on the good time and welcoming folks. My son and I attended last year, our first time, and are coming back. If you can make it, you will enjoy it.

Turned my M116A3 into a flatbed. Courtesy of a large shipping pallet a local business listed for free on Craigslist. Not pretty, but it will work and enable me to use it for the upcoming Graves Mountain Rally. It will be nice to not have to transfer belongings and supplies between the tent...
Agreed, it is very nice. You could go whole-hog and throw in some more brass and elegant fittings and you'll have something Steampunk and Jules Verne fans would be proud to drive :-)

The decking is a mod from the service. I don't know what the Army says it's for, but from my perspective it makes stowage easier and it also relieves knees from the bumps and bruises when crawling around in the interior. I could never crawl from one side to the next without banging a knee on...
Go for the easy fix first. Unplug and replug all connections, especially the big screwed on connection on the back of the light control panel.
Sounds more like loose connections and bad fittings than anything else. I also have a 1987 and my brake light switch was bad. Found another quickly...
Moved the license plate holder out of the way of the pintle hitch, mounted the USB and voltmeter and installed the decking TheCaptain gave me. Am going to be helping him Sunday w idler arm replacement. Wheeee!
