i usually just change the oil no matter how few hours are on it and top the fuel tank completely to the top with an additive that prevents algae. disconnect the batteries and take them to a bench were i can keep them maintained or use them on another piece of equipment. and put it in an insect...
AHHHH the peace and tranquility of living on "home made power" sitting back and enjoying that java. for a short time you will be the envy of your neighbors. great job!!!
my 002a at similar load and conditions rarely opens the louvers. might want to verify there wasn't any gasoline in your fuel. a little gasoline will make your engine run hot. get a cheap laser thermometer and confirm the temps.
is it possible that your louver control is functioning fine and that your overheat sensor is malfunctioning? are you sure it is overheating? check for mouse nests in the ductwork.
Thanks Farmitall
the old girl has 4400 hours so it has been used but it was never repainted to desert camo so who knows. but it definitely has been a prime power for something.
Thank You Zed for the part numbers. it seems that a missing of dysfunctional thermostat is common on these. i think i will order a couple and keep a spare.
that's what i thought. i am getting good flow so probably doesn't have a thermostat installed. anyone know a stant number or some other crossover so i can just go to the parts store and get one? what temp thermostat should i get?
Thanks
i have been fooling around some with my 802A with 4400 hours. when i start it and run it for about 8 to 10 minutes with no load the coolent temp will read about 140 with ambient temp about 70 degrees F. oil temp is about 100 and both exhaust ports checked with a laser thermometer are real close...
that is great. my wife can now get any of my equipment going. after just a little practice she now picks up the phone and calls me and says get it going.
if it were mine i would flush with ATF run until operating temp. then i would put straight weight 30 oil in it and run it,if the oil pressure will carry at 25 PSI and the safety doesn't trip during adding a load i wouldn't worry. you could always run straight 40 weight in it also. if heavy oil...
as the Onan manual states that the T should be exterior of the hut.probably to prevent Co2 poisoning from the open hole. yoy could install a small cotter pin into the hole and bend the legs over on the inside. the vibration will keep the hole open from rust particles.
in my old Onan book it describes for condensation to plumb the exhaust out at horizontal and when you transition to vertical put a T fitting in and one side goes up to exit and the bottom of the T you put a short couple of feet going down. put a cap on the bottom pipe and drill a small hole in...
