I think a nice convoy would be to start at Montesano. Head down the Wynoochee Valley Road to the Wynoochee Dam. Then head west across the Peninsula via Donkey Creek Road (logging road) to 101 along the coast. Lots of beautiful timberland and valleys to be seen.
Tooele Utah Parts Recovery Trip Goodies
Tonight I decided to unload the bed of my truck. Everything that would otherwise fly out the back of the uncovered M101A2 was placed in the back of the truck. I opted to keep the M101A2 trailer uncovered to help with fuel economy. As anyone who has...
Hi Bill, shoot I never even thought about it. I went down to Tooele last month and now this month. Who knows maybe I'll be headed back down next month. Chances are not:-) That desert kind of plays with you especially when coupled with sleep deprivation. I won't forget next time.

PRC-77 RT-841 Radio
Just scored another part for the carrier for the Goat. I'm going with two VRC-12 radios in the carrier. An RT-246a/VRC and the RT-841 (PRC-77). Just got this working/checked radio and accessories off E*** for $150.
For whatever reason, I got up this morning and the first...
Hi Tom, haven't had any time to check her out just yet. I probably jumped the gun by buying the transfer cases. I had an opportunity to head south to Tooele and took it. At least I've got 4 spares now if this one is good. But as we all know, the weakest link in these trucks is the transfer...
Tooele Utah Parts Trip
Just got home at 0735 hrs today. Left for the trip 1700 hours on the 23rd. So I did 2,000 miles in 38 hours. Man I'm beat! Only got 3.5 hours of sleep over the two days. Got home in time for my son's All-Star game this morning at 1000 hrs. Love it when a plan comes...
Ahhhh this Goat is going to kill me. Just drive 1,300 miles in the last 23 hours. And I'm still driving:-) Picked up some extra transfer cases and parts. Only 700 miles and I'm home.

Well, it appears most everything is in good working order on this Goat. However, there is one issue that I am dealing with and I think I know the solution. As it would happen, the weakest link on this truck is the transfer case. It appears I may need to switch her out. She drives in Low and...
M939A2 series. Truck has an Allison automatic transmission. The shifting could be an issue with the shifter linkage. $4,000 sounds about right depending on mechanical condition of the truck.
As far as smelling funny, my M925A1 came with a full tank of JP-8. The exhaust definitely smells different from diesel. Blow-by coming out of the draft tube will differ from truck to truck. It all depends on engine condition.
Grays Harbor has one tent and one HMMWV set up for operations. Not much of a response for an area that's really going to be impacted. Or maybe they're thinking we'll be too impacted and assets will be at a minimum.
That doesn't look like yard I'm use to seeing at JBLM. Sure it's not the Lakewood yard? Anyways, as far as driving equipment off base, you won't get hassled at all. I've driven about a dozen trucks and trailers off base. They don't even look twice when you drive out of the gate. Now as far as...
What's the going price for a running T/O Detroit 3-53 w/tranny? I have an opportunity to buy one locally and wondered what they go for. I'm also wondering about weight. From what I've seen they weigh around 1,000 lbs. Just verifying to make sure it'll sit comfortably in the M101A2.
