Welcome to the fold. Time to get busy on the TMs and parts references.
That wiring does look odd. My HMMWV has plenty of cut wires, from removed equipment, but nothing like that.
You'll figure it out I'm sure. If the taped off wires have little metal tags on them, you should be able to look...
Got down and dirty with a grease gun and hit every zerk fitting. Rides smoother and a touch quieter.
Also replaced some of the bolts on the mirrors so I could angle them more. I have the seat set high, and could not see very far behind me without ducking my head. Now can drive a little more...
Drove my HMMWV to work for the first time, longest distance driven so far (10mi). Coworkers are coming round the parking lot after lunch to have a lookie-loo.
Weekend will be spent on further maintenance and LO items.

x-box tanning oil, I like that.
If you apply enough oil to the x-box, I think that would solve the problem, partly...
I ration my son's Wii time, for sure. He's pretty good about being interested in reading or being outside as well. He also eats broccoli. Something's wrong with him...
Took her for her first joyride last night! Gassed (well, dieseled) up along the way. Pulling into a gas station in a HMMWV is a surefire conversation starter.
She ran pretty well, and nothing fell off that I couldn't do without. I was startled the first couple of times the cooling fan kicked...
Here is another wider shot. I drilled new holes in the top of the TMG supplied bracket, putting the mounting holes in the center of the width of the bracket. This allowed me to mount the bracket a little farther back from the surface. This let me nest the plate just behind the pad eye.

Thanks AA, we'll definitely have to get together. I'd love it if we were both driving green iron, though it's taking me several weeks to get through the lube order and the open/inspects. I am about ready to begin taking it on the road for short trips as part of getting to know the old gal.
I...
I wouldn't mind a picture or two of an injector and where/how one is supposed to bleed one. if it feels off-thread here, you could post in my thread for my new-to-me HMMWV. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?153694-Hello-from-Alexandria-VA/page4

I tried the horn when she was running and all lights on, still no joy. I haven't had time to run an electrical test of the wires or horn itself as yet.
The last few days were taken up with changing the coolant. Also replaced all hoses.
So far, so good.

Igm, yes. I replaced the fuel filter and water strainer. Also drained the fuel tank. It's only had about 7-8 gallons idling since.
I'm running injector cleaner through it now, and figure I won't worry until I've had some highway time. But the TM only said to crank until it starts, mentioned...
Finished the coolant system drain and fill yesterday. Took a couple days of searching to find replacement hoses. But I managed to source the materials locally. I didn't realize how hard it would be to get 2 inch or larger inside diameter hoses.
Still having some stalling problems when leading...
Drained and flushed the coolant system. Only got about 2.5 gallons of coolant out of it, which explains what I thought were high temps. She was running >220 and climbing when I shut her down during driveway ops after the drain and fill of transmission, transaxle and differentials last week...
Drained and filled the differentials. Drove back and forth in each gear selection to be sure of trans fluid level and topped off.
Installed a battery cut off switch.
Noticed the coolant temperature got to nearly 220. But I already planned to drain and fill the coolant system and replace the...
My thanks to all for the tips and inputs. I will open my TM and see if I can figure out which spindle nuts I have to start with. But it sounds like I am taking off the wheels.

I've searched and can't find specifics on this on the forum. I haven't settled my mind yet as to whether it's possible to drain and fill the hubs with the wheels on the HMMWV.
I'm working my way through the LO and it isn't clear to me in looking at the illustrations in the LO and TM if it's...
