When I was driving in N.E. Pa, I used the trolley valve when I had to stop on an incline so I wouldn't roll backward when I started moving again.
Another way to brake on inclines (if the road is dry/not icy) is to use a lower gear for compression and to "stab" brake the truck. Pick your safe...
I had a similar issue. I replaced the starter. Word of advice... have a friend help. Those b*sta*rds are HEAVY!
I put a strap around mine while unbolting and had friend hold up on it till loose, then we both lowered to the ground.
Good luck.
Sorry not to be of help and I'm WAY off subject, but I saw the thread title and couldn't help but think of the time I was sent to the Gunnery Sergeant in my platoon (E-7 rank) and was told to ask for a PRICK-E7..... Found one....
Here is a link to NAPCO International, who has what you need...
Also, had a brain fart today..... If there is any interest, I can bring my DJ gear and provide music!
(Am working on an idea for the shirt logo.... should have an idea for you soon!)
Oh, and regardless of what it says, count me in for a minimum of 2.
It looks like I will be able to make it. (So far). I can whip up some tater salad......
Will be bringing the George (the deuce), the wife and young one, a strong back to help out whomever needs it and my guitar.....
I didn't need them for inspection, but I DID want some for backing up..... here's the thread with pics.... http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/28915-my-wifes-gumbo-rocks.html
In the resources, look in the tech manual section and download those. And honestly, I know it's going to be your truck, but the stock engines are more than adequate for the trucks. Before I considered an engine swap, I'd check out what you get first. Your cost to benefit ratio may not be worth...
Welcome to the site.
My 2cents:
Horsepower: If you find a way to max out the "stock" engine, please, please please (PLEASE) take pictures and video, cause that is something I **gotta** see.
Color: Paint is cheap, but odds are when you get your deuce, you will get the bite to restore...
