After tons of measuring and evaluating options, it's been concluded that the HMMWV just isn't the hauler for the job with the support equipment that I have available. A friend of mine has a freshly overhauled S-10 blazer (same year as my HMMWV) and he agreed to let me borrow it (of course, he's...
Very cool. This is a project that I want to take on some day for similar use. Those brackets you're seeing appear to be for a QEAM telescoping mast. Here's a page that has just a touch of information about them: https://www.willburt.com/products/telescopic-masts/qeam/ With those search...
heh heh. I've been having fun wasting my work day today. It was the first time I drove my HMMWV to work, so most of my day has been lost to parking lot trips with curious colleagues. I brought it in because I needed to pick up some excess material we were disposing that I had good use for...
That would be the easy way, but it's unfortunately the other way around for my case. It seems like a pretty sure conclusion (seller got back to me and agreed with all of you) that this isn't towable on a roadway. So the issue is that my only towing vehicle is a HMMWV with its pintle hitch, but...
That's actually what I'd want to do, but I can't find anything with a lunette ring to work with my pintle hitch. Thus, I'm a bit stuck without renting/borrowing an entirely separate truck to haul.
Thanks for the offer. I'd absolutely jump at that if you were closer, but by the time I drove...
Hey all,
I was looking at a buying a ground support heater from a relatively local seller for what seems like a fair price ($200 with some spare parts, including a spare Yanmar diesel). It's a very small trailer, 734 lbs, clearly intended to be able to be pulled by small utility vehicles...
I've seen this set in person. (As a heads-up, I'm that guy in his 20s that pops in there about once a month, sorts through almost all of your gear, and cherry picks out oodles of little oddball stuff. I was just in about a week ago and looked through a lot of this radio gear.) He indeed has a...
Size it according to your needs. The comments above are perfect to tell you the typical running/starting loads. Aiming for 1000A peak isn't necessary unless you want to ensure that you maintain capability to slave start something much larger than a HMMWV.
Item 3. Closed cell foam. Just like for metal roofing installs, you can use foam add seal. Typically one would cut it so that it fits to the truck bed corrugation perfectly, and the other flatr side will seal against the divider. This should block a pretty good amount of water.

Sounds like you have the wiring off of an M997 ambulance. Check the TM pages I attached.
The great news is that, if it's the full harness, you're already wired for reverse lights. Just add lights and a switch to your shifter.

Seeing these water cans reminded me of something... I know it's not exactly HMMWV-related, but I need to get up on my soap box for a minute. I've been seeing people ask for absolutely cringe-worthy prices on heavily-used military water cans. It's really painful to watch and occasionally...
Also, be glad you're not these guys. I'm still laughing about this:

Yes, the air branch got a ground machine...
Marsh mud is about the worst stuff you could ask for. You have to think twice about driving into any field here in Indiana because it might just be hiding silty mud under the vegetation.
I've gotten my car stuck on a hilltop here...it was paved all the way up, but as soon as I rolled into the...
Ouch, they took you for a ride on that IP if that was a rebuild (buying a 2nd, new pump should be worth that price). Diesel Care & Performance rebuilt and recalibrated my DB2 for about $300. Very professional quality rebuild that had all the right evidence of doing it right, plus the...
86humv is a great guy to work with and almost always has a few extra of the parts you need. His prices aren't always the lowest out there, but they're never unreasonable and he always seems to have stuff that's remarkably hard to find. Lucky for you, he's listing one right now...
I think you may have hit the nail on the head; however, there's always things we can test out, just in case. Remember that prior to disconnecting any electrical equipment, remove the ground terminal cable from your batteries first.
Inspecting the ground connections of all of your electronic...
My wife absolutely hates them, and I absolutely love them as a result. I've been strongly tempted to not paint them just for the giggles.
