To seperate the previous posts on info gathering for the 211 and the actual start and running of the restoration, I've numbered this Post #1, hope no one gets confused. Todays plan is simple, swap out the left front tire/ It's flatter than a pancake and won't hold air.
If you keeping...

Plan of the day is to pull the truck into the barn/shop and fix the leaking brake cyclinder on the right front wheel. I'm still working on a fool proof bleeding system...I think I have one. The VA gave me a bunckh of O2 hose, which I ended up not needing. Add to that a pesticide pump...
Makes things easier... I can hang an Airsoft off the window for the display. They're fairly inexpensive and for the most part, accurate looking. I'd hate to hang a real one off there just cause of the beating it'd take.
Do you recall a chem warfare discharge bottle on the floor or somewhere...
Need some info on the interior of the cab, please. Are there any pics out there? I'm looking to see if/where gun (M-16) mounts were installed, if they were, also one of my trucks has a chem bottle on it. Did the trucks in SEA have those? I'm going to use a current fire extinguisher, just...
Roger on the pics. Got almost 200 so far. I'm documenting everything. Weather goes to **** tomorrow thru Saturday. Might get something done then. Barn's getting better. Actually rolled the AF truck into the barn to put the new A3 seats in...man I LIKE those seats! Thank God for rafters and...

Hi
To keep track of my two ongoing primary projects, I'm going to number them. There's been a lot of discussion so far, thank you all. Today beginsthe M-211 and Vietnam Tribute truck projects. Please chek out the 211 thread, i'll try and find it and post it here so they link...
From all appearance, field expediency was, as it is now, the word of the day. Make it Work. There will be some inaccuracies to the "pure" markings. It will not be deliberate but I think unavoidable when the truck is done. I want a truck that pays tribute to the Men and Women who served. The...
That's the data I needed. This years tribute will be to the Tankers for family reasons. next year... Yellow nose sounds pretty good. The base paint and stars are 90% of the job. Unit markings on the bumpers is also simple, I know about the stencil maker on here..name escapes me but i'll be...
Thank you for the offer. Down side is, i don't hve any bows for the back. For the short term, i was just going to get the cab tarp and beep the bed open. Maybe pick up a green cloth tarp of the kind used then.
PM sent, what the heck, might get some bows somehow and be able to do it up right.
No promises but there is no reason why I can't. Once I have the yellow lights, it's just a matter of doing the work to pay tribute to another unit. To tell the truth, that yellow nose is kinda cool. I'll do the research on the 8th and see what i can come up with for next year.
Appreciate the thought and thank you very much for the invite. Unfortunately, Son, daughter and wife will be in school in Sept so all my travels will be with in the local area. please post pics though! Always like to see how other cities and towns set up their celebrations. Would like to see...
Hmm, temptation:drool:...I set a goal of a Tanker Unit for personal reasons. If there's proof that a 16th, 34th, 69th or 77th Armor truck had those characteristics. Done deal. Otherwise, I'll have to pass. For some reason, which I'm sure those that were "there" understand, 1970 seems to be a...
Great picture...the disgust on the Soldiers face about his helmet lying on the ground speaks for itself. As for the mirror, I see what you mean. If at all possible and keeping with the theme, I'll need to date the "entrance" of the west coast style mirrors. If that falls during or after 1970...
Sounds like the 8th Group Commander was a bit ...hmm shall, we say retentive on his assets? A bright yellow nose somehow screams out TARGET THIS!
Yellow is definitely off the plate.
Thank you very much for the photos! You had a busy time over there! I'm going to skip the window bullet holes...DOT will frown on that but the rest are priceless. On a sad note, looks like IEDs were a major problem in SEA too, judging by the two photos.
Work has begun on the truck already...
Thank you on the list. I'll be looking for those lights. Might have some already...
Check on the canvas, got a source. Will price that out the closer summer gets here.
Roger on the paint color. At the expense of sounding dumb, why no yellow nose? I hadn't planned on it. What is the meaning...
Could you tell me who the paint source was? I know there are several and all probably provide nearly the same product. Cause of my hand issue (long monotonous story) I really need to spray bomb the truck...won't be as professional as a regular spray down but would look (maybe) like a job done...
