if the bearings are going they get hot and the noise generally will alert you prior to failure , The pinion bearings hum, will have to think about it, I regreased every thing, and did the long bar flex check ( prying everything every which way) Bearings are pretty STOUT, hadn't given them much...
Grasp and turn the unloaded jack shaft , observe the longtudinal axis for misalignment, If the bearings are shot the joint will have looseness in it. Or if its removed, manipulate the joint thru its range of motion, As you wiggle it around you will be able to feel if its stiff or "notchy)...
To check u joints with no load on joint turn it back and forth. Look for a shift in alignment along the longitudinal axis. If the shaft is out twist the joint thru its range of motion and look for , feel for stiffness or a notch flat needle bearing feel. As you twist it thru it's range of motion
Alaska is different because no Federal High Way funds are taken by Alaska ( Alaska has no interstates) And none off the "You will comply or get no funds " rhetoric. and no "federal highway" based taxes are paid . And I prefer Alaska's roads over the roads in NH ! kept
in much better shape and no...
I had a loose jack shaft a few weeks ago, noticed the same symptoms driving the 150 miles back from the Weare Rally Tightened it up , but although the vibration seemed to lessen it was still there. Had a little notchiness in one of the Universals so I changes them both. reduced a little ,but...
Failed to mention before, If your doing 60 whats your rpm, If it is near mine your pushing or over redline, Mine leaks if I do that as well, did a run from Bolling AFB DL to Pease AFB NH. had to stop in Jersey to clean clutch disk off. reduced Rpm, problem went away
Been there done that, Use the brake cleaner, if you have the ceramic clutch your in like Flynn, it will dry clean if your douche it enough. Ive found there are two culprits 1. over service of the engine oil, oil will ,"crank case pressure "by the seal on to the disk . Check oil level for...

Most flightlines were 30 mph, even at thirty you could get them bouncing from side to side. Towed a lot of them , wouldn't take one even approaching 50 mph !
Driving is really the only cost effective way to go, Two routes 1. Ferry from Washington state, saves a lot of miles , is expensive, unloads in Whitter AK most likely on Alaska Railway ferry ( takes a few days depending on stops) . Or drive the ALCAN one can go from Anchorage to lower forty...

Stay positive! simple problem sinple solution dmetalmiki above has a possible solution, Put a small frlare on the copper tude, it can be done with a file or a round screwdriver by rolling it around semi inserted into the end of the SOFT cooper tube, only go large enough to allow rubber hose...
if you want to keep it take up hellmutt on his offer, register it as an Rv hauler , no CDL needed, Check NH CDL requirements, no commercial registration needed , watch you claim of Max vehical weight and purchase cost , good luck ! it can be done!!!
There is no need to register commercial, Unless you plan to use it commercially in a business, Size and weight can put you in the commercial category, BUT , you can elect to register as "personel use" of course then you cant use it for commercial haulage, you wouldn't want to any way , its just...
