    Anyone running a front locker?

I have Detroit lockers in both rear axles of the 15 ton and the rear axle of one jeep so I am aware of how the work and operate.

    Anyone running a front locker?

The Detroit will unlock on an unpowered axle but the force required to unlock it will cause issues with the on road performance and that is the reason that locking hubs are required. If you listen carefully you can hear the Detroit make a clicking sound. In theory it should work but the...

    Anyone running a front locker?

On a normal open differential the outside tire is free to rotate with a locker the inside and outside tire are connected and it requires considerable force to turn the outside tire faster than the inside tire. Below is a thread on how to determine if a truck has a locker. Read post 2...

    Anyone running a front locker?

If you run a locker in the front you need locking hubs. Without locking hubs the truck will be hard to steer both on and off road, and your front ties will wear quickly. You may also see an increase in your turning radius from the added drag. My jeep with a power lock in the front axle is a...

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

The truck in my avitar is set up with 4.88 gears, a two speed transfer case, an Allison MT 643 and low profile 22.5" tires. It cruises at 58 mph at 2500 rpm. I would like to drop the rpm's at 58 mph and that is the reason for my interest in the transmission.

    Yes, Another Trans Stuck Thread

It sounds like you have some wear in the shifter on the trans. They wear and get sloppy. I had a truck the started having shifter issues and I ended up replacing the shifter because the tip had worn and was not shifting fully. I also remember changing some other small parts. Also if you park...

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

That makes sense. I have thought about putting a 6 speed Allison in my truck. But in CA trucks only can go 55 legally. And my truck likes 58. With that trans and its low gear you might run into issues with over torquing the drive train with a transfer case that has low range.

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

That is not it. In the first post he says it is a 7 speed. The HT740 is a 4 speed not 5 speed.

    M813 with full Air Brakes

There are two issues with wedge brakes. The first issue is very few people know how to correctly adjust them and accidentally back one shoe off per wheel. The second issue is you have to replace everything when you do a brake job, very expensive.

S cam air brakes would be a lot better than the wedge brakes

4" Ram Air Scoop for deuce

I would not worry about rain coming in when driving, my commercial trucks just have a screened intake in the grill, but in storage that could be an issue.

    Frequency Meter for MEP

I am not impressed with hardy diesel. I contacted them thru there web site two weeks ago. I received an automated response so their system got it and my email address is correct but they never responded to me. If they can not help me it would be good business to take the 5 seconds and respond.

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

You can get several different axle ratios to fit the same carrier in an axle. If you change both gears the shaft spacing will not have to change. It is not uncommon to find heavy duty transfer cases that are direct and overdrive. I do find if unusual that the M916 had a single speed...

    M936 Battery relocation

Most commercial trucks today only use two or three truck batteries. If you use block heaters this will work on cold climates. The military uses 4 batteries go the redundancy and ability to start in artic conditions

    Sizing a genset?

The electric bill has nothing to do with sizing a generator. You need to figure you loads. During an outage you do not need to run the generator 24 hours a day. 6 to 8 hour is sufficient to keep the fridge and freezer cold. You typically run the generator from dusk to bed time. I have worked and...
