You are correct. I had it in my mind that 2.41 was the base ratio for the diffs. But it's 2.56. (There's also 2.73 and 3.08 )
But back to the half shaft speed, no, that wouldn't change. The gearboxes are 1.92.
55mph with a tire of 36" tall means 514 rpm. 514 x 1.92 gearboxes = 987 rpm for the half shafts.
That said, remember there's still the 3rd member between the half shafts and the transmission/engine. So I'll just use the base 2.41 ratio for the first trucks. That means the driveshaft/engine...
Given the time/cost to rebuild. I'd also recommend simply replacing it. If they were a more "valued" engine like a cummins, cat, exc. Then certainly rebuild.
I would think the distributor would need to be different as well. Since that would need to rotate backwards or at least the drive gear would need a reversed profile. Also the flyweights for it would need to be clocked backwards. Then other things like the starter, water pump, fan, exc.
Not...
They didn't want to allow me to take the test because I wasn't a firefighter. It's been a few years now, but as I recall the whole class E/F tier was created more for the volunteer firefighters to drive trucks. Basically I've had the endorsement for a decade at least now. So I don't recall...
Trying to compare a price to something from ten years ago isn't a good gauge. And unfortunately just in the past year prices have skyrocketed across the board.
Unless something has changed class E and F are options. They might give you some grief about testing for it. But when I explained it was for military vehicles and nothing else and certainly not commercial they allowed me to test for it.
It was just the written portion of the cdl test. No...
First time I've not been on the air for field day since 2015. I'm taking a much needed vacation. I thought about bringing a radio with me. But I wanted to focus on the family.
We ended up using the crane for the first time this week. My son helped steady the load to keep it from swinging. But the lift didn't really even complain much about it. This frame is for a pick and place rack setup with linear bearings and servo motors. The frame is all steel and heavy. I...
