Well let's see, I have owned or currently own several five tons
1973 M816 wrecker
1969 M52A1 tractor
1967 M51A2 dump
1967 M54A1 cargo
1955 M62A1 wrecker
Not a problem Cabell,we had it fixed in about 20 minutes.
Bjorn,I did include that 5 gallons of biodiesel,I only birned 105.6 gallons of regular "fossil" diesel.
My Turn,
Well the trip up was somewhat eventful,Ferro had to swap tires on the towed M37 around Charlotte, and after putting the Jeep on the dolly at Henderson NC it dropped a tire as well just north of Richmond. We managed to muscle it up on the M37's bed and strap it down for the remainder of...
Ryan,I live in Morganton just 1 hour away from Charlotte, but like Adam said Aberdeen is next week.I will be in Rock Hill this weekend,I could possibly meet you at the Deuce in question and give you a few pointers.
Brandon
Jeff,my M62 already has a Mack in it,it was done by either a NG unit or at the depot level before it was surplussed out.
Kinda odd though, they used the old gasser "anti diesel valve" control cable for the emergency shutdown valve control cable. plus instead of installing a new data shift...

Well much to my suprise, when i shifted the lever from 3 rd up to where 4th should...
Just my opinion mind you(but i'm kinda partial ) Tha Mack engine, properly tuned to stock specs, doesn't notice the altitude change as much as the 250 Cummins,BTW all the Mack engines in the M39 series of trucks wii be turbocharged.
As far as telling them apart from the outside, you can't,the Mack and Multifuel powered trucks look identical from the outside, but here's a few pics to compare.
Lance,
The TP-50 is the tire pressure marked just above each tire or between the tandems on dual axle trucks. The number 8 on the door is the Bridge weight clasification, this is also marked in the plate mounted on the grill on both trucks. As for the number on the glove box door, that is the...
To answer several questions, yes all the GOER series of vehicles were designed to swim.
Kenny, yes that was a M51A2 dump on the trailer, now it has taken the GOERs place in the collection.
It weighs in at around 38K lbs,I believe the museum is planning on getting it running and driveable.
P.S...
Well folks the GOER is on it's way to it's new home in Columbus GA,Larry and crew left a few minutes ago with it on the trailer.I will say loading it was a lot easier than expected,we had a few rain showers but other wise all went well. Here's a few pictures,Enjoy!!
