    LMTV Radio Antenna Question(s)

I have the passenger side antenna mount with spring intact. I've encountered a number of antennas for sale that list a for "LMTV", but they list a wide range of vehicles and vary considerably. 1) Does anyone know the antenna designation that goes with our trucks (I guess assuming just the...

LMTV CTIS $10 upgrade to ~75psi for Highway

Cool. If you think about it, three more and a rotary and you'd replace the CTIS ECU. Well....sorta. LOL :)

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, it was prepped properly, I had never attempted a vertical weld before. Plus this was the first time I had to crawl into a somewhat tight space to weld (and the back side was *really* tight). It didn't help that the fiberglass box was right behind my surface (I was...

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Added the quick disconnect for the little 12v crane wench. *I'm still learning to use my "metal glue gun" as you can tell

LMTV CTIS $10 upgrade to ~75psi for Highway

I've been running the mod since I did it (about 1000 miles). 75 psi and happy. I honestly think my front tire wear has been noticeably reduced.

PASSED/SIGNED: Texas MV Bill Moving thru Senate

Well here's what passed thru the Transportation Committee Friday May 17, 2019. Section 5 shows the changes/additions to Military Vehicle Registration. It will be on the Governor's desk as early as tomorrow. Sadly, street legal rails got screwed (to be considered "sandrails": *right click...

    Steering box failure / cracking

I love the concept of his AC (was new from a crane cab). Seems that he's fixed it all up in his latest video. He re-did the plumbing and added a few new components. He covers the changes and fix in this video: https://youtu.be/bmsVA83vBRI

Anyone put on a steering stabilizer / shock?

Nothing really new, but a good read here (especially for those not fully familiar with the concept): https://txtire.com/blog/view/steering-stabilizers-the-truth

Anyone put on a steering stabilizer / shock?

    Some stuff here: https://www.truckid.com/steering-dampers-stabilizers.html https://www.triplesbuilt.com/

Anyone put on a steering stabilizer / shock?

Two factors: Travel (rebound and compression) and dampening (ie: valving, etc to exert the proper force needed). You'd need to do some cipherin' (don't for get to carry your naughts)

    Steering box failure / cracking

Yep, Sean's blew do to over presure (not enough return when his hydraulic AC compressor seemingly locked up). Seeing his, I would think there's a possible correlation related to pressure. Here's his YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNlWk4tKtbY

    NATO Plug Questions

I'll be using new plugs (one for 12v and another for 24v). I'll be mounting this type of connector (*see image) My little electric crane wench only draws 50-70 amps at max load and I was thinking that a set of 6 AGW cables would do for a 20' run (that should reach all four bed corner...

    NATO Plug Questions

    1) Is the single pin plug on the LMTV 24v only? 2) If I wanted to add/mount separate 24v and 12v plugs (to run my own sets of custom jumper cables, 12v to my crane, etc) what gauge should I make my leads coming off the batteries to the plug mount location if I add new ones (is 1 awg needed to...

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Got my much needed Primeweld TIG225X so I can start some fab work. Crane mount is finished (FINALLY), now to do the wiring and quick-disconnect off the dreaded and magical smoke container under the ether bottle.

M1078 Lift Kit oder leaf spring?

If you never plan to carry any weight in the back, why not look into having a leaf removed. I know it was done to civilian trucks to soften the ride on "cowboy Cadillacs" as we used to call them (all truck and no cattle).
  17. Third From Texas

Just picked up my first m1078! Air Compressor broke on way home!

I'd have to look, but I seem to recall that there was a maintenance order that was done to replace the nut with a lock nut. I saw a video of a fellow documenting his recovery who went thru this exact story (in the OP) and even re-tightened the nut when it first came off and the PS/air...

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Most of my time is spent on Padre Island and at night I get a lot of recovery requests. Even with the amber convoy strobe, backup alarm, and backup camera I'm always leery of people on foot trying to "help" (there is typically alcohol involved with folks being stuck at the beach at night). So...

Cerveza extraction mechanism added to each front fender.

    Looking for a LMTV grill

You're the second person to recommend this. I can see how the bed liner would add an extra layer of strength (and the price is far more palatable than a replacement, at least according to my empty pockets). I'd still love a steel grill someday, though. :)
