Wires going into rearmost axle @ brakes, what are they for?

One rear axle has ABS speed sensors, One does not. The wires go to the sensors that monitor a tone ring. If you want ABS, you have to keep the ABS axle. If you don't and want to risk ABS lights that will severly hamper your ability to sell the truck, discard it.

    Neutral tow????

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you. I was a training superintendent for a C-17 Aircraft Maintenance squadron for over three years, and we made use of EVERY method of training, including TMs, TCTO, AND video training. These were all valuable tools and there is nothing at all wrong with...

    Damaged CUCV Rebuild

The "best way" is to find all the spotwelds, cut them, remove the skin, and reweld it. The structure is actually in the posts more than the skin. After getting into this one, it was just better to pull/straighten it.

    Damaged CUCV Rebuild

Here is the roof as it is now. More pulling and learning metal shrinking should have it pretty nice soon.

    First 923A2

So I sold my nice 923A0 last Wednesday and he is already hauling red oak up the haul roads to get to the road tractors. I had sellers remorse almost immediately and Ft Drum had some nice trucks so I got lucky and picked up a pretty nice A2. DH was kind enough to run up to Drum and scoop it out...

    Stupid 5-Ton Allison Transmission Question

Panic stops and riding a brake down a mountain are two different things. In a panic stop or a hard stop on a slippery surface you want all traction points stopping equally. By releasing the drive train you ensure that it does.

    Damaged CUCV Rebuild

I bought the truck from C & C but this repair had three old coats of paint on it so this was from the Uncle.

    Damaged CUCV Rebuild

Update. We decided to try and straighten and repair the skin as it was, other than the large dents, in pretty good condition. Here is a picture of what we found, where I "thought" the skin had ripped, was actually large cracks in ridiculously thick bondo previously applied in its Military...

Prior to painting the HMMWV...Paintable caulk???

Seam Seal is available at NAPA for about 25 a tube. Its the same stuff the OEMs use, and very sturdy.

So you got the truck at Drum? I was on that one for awhile after previewing it. Beautiful truck.

    Neutral tow????

I talked to Matt, he's a good guy that was lost in looking through the 800 + pages. He had them printed, but not everyone knows that "Control F" in Adobe Reader gives you a search function. This was definately not a case of someone who just "blasted off a question". Sometimes, just offering...

    M932A2 tractor

Transfer case and transmission. You don't want to go looking for one of either if you need it. Drive shafts are also good to keep. One axle will give you most of the parts for a failure in them as the diffs are all the same. I kept a front and 1 rear axle and all the other parts I mentioned.
