My FLU419 will lift a bucket of gravel, but won't lift the front off the ground. However, I can roll the bucket and lift it slightly off the ground. I have never had the belt slip regardless of the load.
When I was in the army, I saw a deuce left in gear that was bumped from behind and it took off with several guys chasing it. It must have been in 2nd or 3rd gear because it was moving fairly fast, but one guy caught it before it hit anything. It was a severe penalty to leave a truck in gear -...
If you go back through this forum you will find a video showing how to lock the boom on a Case backhoe. I had to learn as well. It's very easy once you do it a few times.
I've used ether on a lot of MV tires, but you need to be extremely careful. It only takes a small whiff. People have been severely injured or killed using too much ether. The tire shop is the way to go.
My 003A tank was a real mess when I got my genset. I put crushed gravel inside with dawn dish detergent and shook it. I wish I had thought of putting it on a wheel and driving - that would have been much easier. I kept repeating with the dawn and gravel and got out everything I could after...
One thing I did with the tool cabinet is drill a 3/16 inch hole in the lower rear inside corner to allow water to drain out. It is almost impossible to keep rain water from leaking in that tool cabinet if the FLU419 is out in the rain, even if the gasket is in good condition. The tool tray is...
I changed the hoses on both sides, although only one was broken. I found the proper 5 mm ID hose at Autohaus AZ - one meter for $9.95. Took me about 15 minutes per side to replace. My 4X4 now works perfectly.
If you know of someone near you with a FLU419, you could do a plaster cast of their tool tray and then possibly form your own tool tray out of ABS or whatever makes sense. You would then have an almost perfect copy of the tool tray.
If you look in TM 5-2420-224-24P-2 on Pages 106 and 107 you will see the tool tray, Item 26.
Name: Tray, Pneumatic Tool
P/N: 419-585-70-44
NSN: No NSN Assigned
CAGE: 64678 Daimler Trucks North America
You will likely need to find a FLU419 that is being cannibalized to find that tray.

Have you looked everywhere for the wrench? I thought my FLU419 came without the wrench as well and found it under the drivers seat in the corner of the box. Mullaney's idea will work great for the hood, but you also need the other end of the wrench for the battery box. If you can't find...
No photos of tearing out the insulation. My steel hood was so rusted under the insulation I simply took it to the transfer station for recycling. I believe the problem is that water leaks past the seams on the center piece of steel on top of the steel hoods and soaks the insulation with water...
I trashed all of that insulation under my steel hood. I plan on trashing the insulation on the side panels as well but haven't yet. That insulation causes rust if you have a steel hood. I located an NOS fiberglass hood years ago and it is far superior to the cut and widened steel hood that...
Replacement zerks are not very expensive. Whenever I have a zerk I can't get grease through, I go ahead and replace it. If there is still a problem because of hardened grease in the joint, I then use one of the hammer tools.
Years ago I drove a 1967 M37 that had the engine swapped for a Ford tractor diesel. The truck was used underground in a marble mine. It ran good at low speed and I only drove it underground in the mine, not on the highway. I have no idea about the transmission, but the truck used the same...
