Mine does have the reconnection switch, options are 120V only, 240V only, 120/208 3 phase, and a 120V only 3 phase mode there is no 120/240 split phase option on these, however it is possible to get 120/240 split phase out of them by adding a single jumper wire while set in 240V single phase...
I run Rotella 15w40 in mine, just like all my other diesels, capacity it 3 quarts. Next oil change I will likely use Chevron Delo 400 15w40, as I bought 2 gallons a while back when I spotted it on clearance for 75% off, since 2 gallons is not enough to fill any of my other diesels.

To answer the question on value I watched one with similar hours showing sell As-Is on GL yesterday for right at $1,000, which is inline with other recent auctions, maybe a little higher than average, known good running units seem to sell for $1,500 and up, and they often have asking prices of...
I bought one off ebay (along with an air filter), I think southern automotive was the seller.
Ike
p.s. the fuel filter is listed on southern automotives web page under alternate commodities for about $16 southernautomotive.com
Don't give up on the seized ones just yet, as they may be only lightly seized. I bought a skid mounted 30 KW Kohler diesel generator from GL last year, it was stored with a trash bag taped over the exhaust manifold , unfortunately the bag rotted away by the time I picked it up and there was...
You might get lucky on the battery, some people do, mine was just a little too far gone, it would hold a charge, but not enough to crank the set. During initial testing I used a pair of cheap $16 12V lawn mower batteries from O'Reillys auto parts wired in series. For me the MEP-701a is just...
Sounds fair to me too, I have a 701a (paid about $400 for it off GL last year), it works ok, is rated for 3 KW, probably about the same as a civilian unit rated at 4.5 KW, as the 3KW is at .8 PF even 1 phase, up to 8,000 ft and at 100+ degrees F, 24/7. The only big downside of the MEP-016B/...
I just wanted to say given everything you have told us about this the price sounds right for a known good running unit. If your going to leave it trailer mounted there was a good message thread on here a while back regarding transfer switches, cable connections, etc for trailer mounted...
If you want to go cheap, Hardy Diesel is selling a little digital Volts / Hz meter with a standard outlet plug on the end on ebay for $20, I bought one last week. There is a small button on the front to switch between HZ and volts, upon power up it defaults to HZ. Ebay search on "frequency...
thanks Speddmon
I was hoping a MEP-002 would be big enough to run a piece of equipment, but I guess it is a little too small (measured running load with a clamp meter is 18.31 amps)
Ike
Does anyone know the 120/208 3 phase amp ratings for the MEP-002 and MEP-003 off hand, I have tried searching for it and all I come up with is the 1 phase ratings.
Thanks Ike
As is, luck of the dice MEP-002a's have been selling in the $1,000+ range off GL most of the time lately (some a bit under, most around here at least seem to go a bit over), known good running unit I would say $2,000 - 2,500 in the current market. I would estimate the average selling price for...
Jerry, I see your in the San Diego area, you might want to try calling Hardy Diesel, they sell mostly small to mid size import generators, as well as solar power equipment for off grid use. I have bought a couple of accessory items from them and they seem good to deal with, a small operation...
Whenever I wash an engine, I like to have it warm (not hot) before starting to help drive off any trapped water, a foaming degreaser will also help. My family has a cleaning chemical business so I have access to all sorts of industrial cleaning chemicals, for light layers of dirt and grime I...
As has already been mentioned the key is what loads do you need to run, in particular what big loads do you have? Electric heating? Water heater, electric stove or oven, you have already mentioned electric clothes dryer and dishwasher. If you don't have an electric water heater the MEP-002...
It may be the locations you are going to, I have only picked up at 2 locations, and only about a dozen items heavy enough to need a fork lift, ranging from about 350 - 5,500 pounds. Of these pickups I have experienced:
The above mentioned, up ending of a diesel powered compressor
Only other...
In partial defense of the GL fork lift drivers, loading heavy items into the back of a pickup truck with a forklift is not the easiest of things to do, since the trucks suspension is so soft it is hard to tell when it is down all the way vs. pressing down on the the truck with the fork lift...
Just watch out for those GL fork lift drivers, some of them have a hard time loading equipment onto an open sided trailer, much less the bed of a pick up truck. If it were me and I did not have a trailer, I would rent an 4x7 or 5x8 uhaul open utility trailer, they only run $15 - 20 per day...
