Just for the sake of clarification........I am guessing the "A319664" is a CX16013, which is a Bendix on one end and the GRC fitting on the other. The Bendix for the power outlet on the vehicle (such as a Gama Goat) and a GRC type fitting, NOT a VRC type fitting on the other. Easiest way to tell...
Welcome! Not many SteelSoldiers members in Idaho. I am in Caldwell. Alex at Idaho Motor Pool has a BUNCH of stuff, should you need anything. Tell him I sent ya.
A good friend of mine called me this morning and said the constant smell of antifreeze coming from under the hood of his HMMWV has been determined to be probably from the 4 inch CRACK IN THE BLOCK!
Anyone know of any relatively easy conversions?
As a Goat-herder myself, the only difference between an M561 and an M792 is the ambulance has an insulated rear carrier cover with a rear carrier heater, and a step on the tailgate. Oh yeah, a red and white cross painted on the front. (I happen to have a NOS ambulanec rear carrier cover, with...
I saw a rig that had the intake funneled into the cab. The reasoning was the water level would never get higher than the drivers face area. The guy didn't really want an overtly visible "snorkel" or intake tube, so he ran the intake flex hose off the carb into the cab, and had it end where the...
The picture appears to be of several MX6707's. If my feeble old memory serves me correct, those are not the same as the AS3900's mentioned. The threads for the antenna masts are different between the two.
Alex at Idaho Motor Pool had gotten a ga-zillion dueces and 5-tons from various military bases/sources. It seems that hardly any two are the same. Most are the outside bottom of the tailgate and some are on the mudflaps, but like I said they are somewhat creative when placing those reflective...
What does it weigh in its present condition? It looked heavy on that trailer. Especially when it was listing towards the port side.
I have fallen in love, all over again!!!! I want one.
I have read numerous studies about exhaust, mufflers, temps, etc. The general agreement is that you want to keep the gases as HOT as possible and not attempt to cool them off. Formula cars, Nascar, road racing, etc (except drag racing) usually wraps the header/pipes with that metalized tape. The...
I will be there from Tuesday afternoon until Sunday morning. I will be hanging around the setup with all the patches, badges, uniform stuff, etc ( the guys from Idaho). There will be a MULE parked out front with an M-60 mounted on it. Right on the sharp curve as you enter.
Come on over and sit...
Wouldn't that translate into twice that many amps for 12VDC, because of the the VIC amp being 24 VDC? If volts go down, amps go up the opposite amount?
Like I said earlier, I am a former Illinois resident, a current Idaho resident, being a cop and MV collector. I am somewhat versed on Illinois law and pretty well versed on Idaho law.
I simply would like to know under what law, county/city ordinace, local statute would you have been violating...
This thread is pleasantly growing, much to my amazement. I have about ALL of those previously mentioned radios on the back of my Goat.
I like the idea of an identifier of some sort where our names are. Now I am going to have to figure out how to post some good pics of my Communication...
Factoring in that I was born on the south side of Chicago, went to high school (and a few years thereafter) in a suburb of Peoria, THEN movong to the exact opposite of thought-proccessing IDAHO, and then starting to restore MV'S , not to mention the difference in how the mindset about guns is...
I just got my Tech license a year or so ago. The best way is to go to QRZ.com, (I think) and start taking the tests. You have to keep taking them until they start becoming too easy. Then take your $14.00 and take the real test. No morse code to memorize for the Tech license. The theory part is...
Admittedly, there aren't many Steel Soldiers around these parts, but I am one and also have my Ham license. Count me in, somehow.
I pretty well had to get a Ham license for my Comm-model Gama Goat. I figure if I am going to sink a gaggle of money and over a handful of radios on it, (and they...
