That title got my attention Aaron, whew glad everything is good to go. Excellent ideas for extracurricular activites. I may be able to help in the way of a Ham shack, provided I get my radios hooked up in the 109 before then. I got a 40-50 ft telescoping antenna mast from Brad to mount on the truck.
Really Gimp? I've never seen an '87-88 without a split brake system. Now I have seen tons of pre-87 deuces claiming to be the late model deuces based upon the rebuild year. I was under the impression that was one of the USAF contract items incl hardtop, heaters, and dropsides.
I have both an '88 M35A2C and a '68 M35A2. Although the '88 may seem newer, my '68 was complete rebuilt in '91 at the Tooele Army Depot. I feel a bit safer driving the '88 w/the split brake circuit. The '87-88's also had a nice parking brake reminder light on the dash to let you know your...
My reason for getting mine was a result of a huge windstorm we had here in DEC07. We were literally cut off from the rest of the word with downed trees that limited driving to one's driveway...no joke. After 3-4 days of being homelocked (is that even a word?), I spoke it over with my wife and...
LOL, I've seen that exact deuce!!! That truck was right next to mine at Ft Lewis GL back in July 2008. I remember the unit markings and noticed a SGT Turner was the driver....small world. Your truck was shipped up from the Oregon National Guard from either Camp Withycome or Kleiver Armory...
As everyone else has said, it all depends on the site and whether or no the GL site manager is working:|. I've been to 3 GL sites and they were all different. All of them allowed me to check fluids and THATS IT. You'll need to speak to someone at the site.
You know, I got thinking about fuel mixing with the crankcase oil. However, the oil has absolutely no Diesel smell what so ever. Seemed a bit too coincidental to have exactly 10 gallons in the crankcase. The oil level on the dipstick was the same upon recovery and after driving it 60 miles home.
Yikes, the oil on the dipstick seemed a bit high when I went to recover the truck. I thought it was maybe a gallon over the 5 gallon capacity. Boy was I ever wrong. I decided I would drain off a little of the crankcase oil because the color indicated it was just changed not so long ago. I...
Hey Matt, thanks! I did the stencils the poor man way. I went to Walmart and bought cardstock. Used a military stencil program that Gringeltube sent to me. Printed them off, pieced them together, and used a good ole exacto. I think my fingers are still blistered:-). I don't have the back plate...
I too do GL-1 in tranny/transfer and GL-5 in diffs. Had some issues earlier on when I put Synthetic GL-5 MT-1 in the tranny. Didn't want to shift very easily. Also, I've been told the sythetics do not climb gears like good ole GL-1.
