Welcome to Steel Soldiers, and Ditto on everything Isaac said, specially on never idleing the engine. The MEP-003A gensets are very reliable and work great for powering a home or shop and give you the option of single and three-phase power. I have mine connected to the house through an NOS...
I have a USMC M149A2 water buffalo and am trying to interpret the vehicle numbers.
The tank is stenciled with the following on all four sides.
1. First Line: USMC 392549
2. Second Line: M21810
The trailer came from Camp LeJeune
Does anyone know a source for the exterior data plates for an M35A3 W/W? I'm talking about the data plate on the drivers side exterior, and the ones dealing with the winch on the front left. I know where I can have some made but I haven't seen any already made for sale.
When you crank it over, does it crank over smoothly, like you are getting compression on all cylinders? If it is cranking smoothly with compression on all cylinders, I don't think it's a major mechanical failure (rod, piston, etc.).

Something is not right if your engine temperature climbed like that, especially with minimal load and cool ambient temperature. Two thoughts:
1. Perhaps the burning smell was the belt slipping causing the water pump to not move coolant through the radiator like it should.
2. Plugged up...
The transfer case on my A3 is hard to shift as well. I found it shifts the easiest if you are stopped on a slight incline. I put the transmissiion in neutral and let the truck roll back a few inches while I shift the transfer case. It works much easier that way. I tried shifting it while...
You're memory serves you well, WM. I have a 2000 M149A2 and it has a stainless steel tank. I understand the fiberglass tanks didn't hold up well. I don't know what the downside of the aluminum tanks was, most likely corrosion. You can't beat stainless steel.
You are correct, most A3s are listed as 93 regardless of actual year of manufacture. As Carnac stated above, find out the real year of manufacture. When the SF97 is requested, list the truck with the correct year of manufacture and the SF97 they send you will reflect the correct year. That's...
