Check the bolts on the drive shaft between the transmission and TC. Put both in neutral and actually take two wrenches and tighten each one of the bolts. It is sometimes difficult to tell if they are loose until you try to tighten them. This is a common Deuce problem, not to say that this is...
I have both my M35A2 and M35A3 listed as flat bed trucks with State Farm and also on the titles and registrations. The agent took photos to send in to State Farm's headquarters. They are commercial policies for non-commercial use. Inexpensive and no problems. I think listing an M35 as a...
I don't think your experience during downshifting was normal behavior, or at least my A3 never behaved like that, either before or after the change to ATF. When I slowed down with motor oil in the transmission, there were two distinctive clunks as it downshifted to 2 and then 1. Both were...
A lot of A2 have the same ether system, including mine. A2s start so easy, even in cold weather, that ether is seldom needed. My A3 needs ether much more often than my A2.
I just went for a ride in my A3 after reading your last post. I believe I am seeing a slight increase in RPM when I'm in reverse, but it doesn't appear to be slipping. I don't really remember what the RPM was before the change in fluid, but it solidly went into reverse with a clunk before...
I would love to see a spreadsheet like that on all Deuces, not just A3s. I think some people would be nervous about having their vehicle information posted in a public place, however.
Don't let rude posts scare you off. Welcome to Steel Soldiers, and good luck with your Deuce brakes. I live about a half mile from the NC line in North Georgia and I was going to offer to come and help you, but then I found out that you are about 535 miles away from me! NC is a big state...
According to Allison, the transmission was designed to use Dexron III. The Army switched to motor oil to eliminate one extra fluid. Subsequently, TranSynd was developed by Castrol and Allison recommends that fluid over Dexron III. However, according to Allison, TranSynd will not perform any...
I would check the pressure as the Allison tech recommended. I still find it hard to believe that the transmission failed at the same instant that you changed the fluid out, or that the timing of the shift tower and transmission detents got out of sync at the same time. Also, if the 4th gear...
