Your foot ("throttle") controls the fuel to the injectors. More available just means that you don't have to be so heavy on the pedal. Doesn't change the fuel economy at all.
The FDC has nothing to do with warming the fuel. The fuel in the tank will warm up on its own due to return flow. I happen...
The regulator assy is located on the engine block below the turbo, not very difficult to remove and check.
Did mine a couple of months ago and found the high press plunger "frozen".
You may need to cut a new gasket.
The FDC I'm testing is the one that was on the IP to begin with.
The latest oil analysis report indicated fuel in the oil so I removed the FDC and mounted it on a box as shown above. I put a drain valve in the box to be able to drain it at intervals and that's what you now see, fuel leaked from...
I only "washed" one batch for experimental purposes and it was biodiesel, not WVO.
The Waste Veggie Oil oil can be used straight after filtering, mixed with diesel in the summer time up to 20 or more %. In a dual tank system, 80 or more % has not a been a problem for me.
If you process the WVO...
Tapped the fuel collected from the leaking FDC today.
Got 60 ml, which has leaked after only about two hours of engine operation.
That's approx 1 qt/16 hours of engine time.
It depends a lot on the weather (ambient temp). I find it necessary to keep a radiator cover installed at all times to even out the engine operating temp.
I often idle a lot longer than just a few minutes before and after a trip.
The trucks were designed for a 20 year life span starting from...
Thanks Chris, I'm always a bit sceptical about fancy electronics, especially when so much depend on it. A by-pass procedure should be available, even if it means disabling an important(?) feature such as the CTIS.
I'm glad the birthday party was a success. :-)
The MF engines are made for a very wide range of operating temps and several features address the extreme low temp operation, among them the upside down oil canisters to permit heating the oil in the pan and the coolant heated intake manifold.
At warmer ambient temps, the coolant "heated" intake...
