Replaced the fuel sender this week with mixed results.
I was able to save the old gasket and all but one bolt came out without having to drill, although I did replce the bolts.
There was definitely a lot missing on the old unit.
At first the gauge worked but as soon as I climbed aboard...
Couldn't find a reversing light circuit in my 5-Ton TM's, so I rigged a momentary switch into an old metal housing and screwed it to the floor in position so the shift column would engage the switch in reverse. This is plugged into a 12V circuit that runs the length of my M813 to 4 LED lights...
Been experiencing electrical issues with the turn signals. At first contact cleaner cleared it up, but the problem persisted. Found that pin "C" was either cut or broken. This is for the Left Rear Directional.
There was no sign of the broken stub, but fortunately there was enough extra pin...
Why not just disconnect it?
On my M813 I think it's this doohickey, power lead 85, up underneath the dash, behind the oil pressure gauge. JD disconnected the dang thing before I took delivery of the truck. Now I just have to figure out how to reconnect it before the inspection...oy
Hey, I'm working on my 5 Ton.
Troubleshooting the fuel gauge this time, every time I turn on the power the gauge pegs full.
So I pulled the float. Now I'm still kind of new to this MV Shtick, but I feel something might be missing...
So far this tank has eaten a pickup tube and a fuel...
I cobbled together a wix spin on kit for my 5 ton and have no problems disconnecting the fuel line from the engine, hooking it to the pump and pulling fuel through the filters. Also gives me a stand alone pump for transferring fuel from other sources. With that said I've been contemplating an...
Update; The structures I thought were exhaust ports are exhaust ports and they were clogged. Ran the valve head through an ultrasonic parts washer in cleaning vinegar at 130F and it cleared up my problem.
Also found that the WWII Windshield Wiper Repair kit has most of the gaskets necessary...
That's weird, I had no problem insuring my M813 with them.
It didn't need to be stored inside and they were really friendly.
Included free membership in their classic car club, which came with 100 miles free towing.
They only asked the mileage, engine hours, years I've been driving, that it...
The only issue Mass DMV had with my M813 title was the "body type" they don't accept "other" anymore. It seems that three sides and a tailgate make it a Pickup...a ten ton pickup and the old title had white outs and mismatched dates. Still have to pass inspection.
Rebuilding the Trico Filberth wipers on my M813.
Scored a couple rebuild kits on evil bay...from WWII.
Only need the cylinder gaskets, hope they fit, can't imagine they've changed much.
The other surfaces and gaskets look good, the air ports and passages needed cleaning.
Think I've figured...
