The custom tarp finally arrived. Very happy with the fit. The back of the tarp comes down just over the top of the tailgate and you can see the other sides.
I had to add some loops for the 550 cord. Fortunately all the loops and screws/washers/bolts were stuff I had on hand, so no run to the...
Hit another snag- nobody locally rebuilds alternators anymore.
Is there a reasonable rebuilder I can ship to, or can I just do it myself with a kit?
Wait, since this is the driver's side alternator, it's NOT isolated ground? I can replace with an off the shelf alternator then?
EDIT to correct:
Gen 1 is making 13.98v
Gen 2 is making just barely under 14.77v
The volt meter rides about 1/3rd in the green, and always has. Since the Gen 1 light, it goes to the high side of green, touches yellow, then corrects back to green when the engine RPM goes up.
With the plug...
Suddenly I'm noticing the Gen 1 light is glowing softly while the motor is running. Everything else appears normal.
I would estimate the bulb is 35% as bright as it is when I turn the key and the Wait light is on. It goes out completely when I put a high load on the electrical system...
Yikes that coulda got ugly, glad you're ok!
My full weight on the tailgate of my M1101 won't do anything, but that can make me complacent. Thanks for the reminder!
UPDATE:
Tailgate panel is finished and slides in and out perfect- not so tight it's tough to get it lined up, and not so loose it flops around. It seems highly doubtful that it could wiggle its way out of the slot straight up and come off, but to be sure I needed some way to hold it down...
Finished the other corner after work tonight. Everything went smoothly except right at the beginning when removing the side uprights one of the rivnuts started spinning 😡 fortunately it was one of the ones I can get to the nut side and clamped some vice grips on to hold it.
I'm out of...
Are you able to transmit and receive between the mil radio and your handheld on simplex?
Is the radio transmitting the proper CTCSS tone for the repeater?
I gave the brackets a try but they're not going to work.
The socket in the corner is about the same width as the thickness of the wood, so I started poking around in the garage at the stuff I already have, and found this angle steel from a previous (non-trailer) project. I took the side panel...
Interesting. I have a set of those I picked up at Tractor Supply and was planning to return them. I was looking at an external mounting but that wasn't going to work because of the bow sockets (can't run bolts into the sockets or the bows won't drop in). I'll have to play around with them...
Yes, I can be verbose.... Maybe my question got lost in all the text.
I need some ideas for the back panel. I want it to be easy-on and easy-off.
I looked at some stake-side corner brackets but they won't work with the uprights.
The only other idea I've come up with is to take...
The lucky buyers got a set with their trailers, the really lucky buyers got the bows and cover too.
They've become somewhat hard to find, and shipping costs are expensive due to the weight of the whole set.
Thanks to RobertoGatos making me a good deal on the uprights, I was able to get the project moving.
The M1101/2 trailers are big, but the sides are low, so they'll volume out long before they'll gross out. So for hauling brush and stuff like that, I wanted to add some high sides. I went out...
