Nothing that doesn't involve a two hour drive each way. Living out this far makes it difficult; you have to take what's local. What's wrong with the aluminum wheels?
Day 32 of my cold/flu and felt human enough to get some work done. The pics explain what I did. Connections other than ground are soldered and heat-shrinked inside the box. The grounds got soldered eye connectors and a screw post inside the box in case I ever need to add a ground for...
I picked up four of these complete with bald tires, center caps, and spiders for $100. They'll need some work and paint.
Will I be able to reuse the existing lug nuts with these wheels?
I wouldn't mount anything there; there's a reason that panel is smooth the way it is. It can change a minor accident from a walk-away-with-some-scratches thing to permanent disability. Just my two cents...
On my Crown Vic I just disconnected at the trans and let it pump itself out. Now I have a vacuum pump and a two gallon glass medical bottle and pull it out through the dipstick tube. Makes filter changes a lost less messy.
Play hardball. Tell the guy you have $350 take it or leave it.
In any event, get the one in the truck rebuilt and drive that. If the seller agrees to $350, keep it as an emergency spare, use it for self-training and rebuild it yourself, get it rebuilt professionally and keep it as a spare...
I noticed the truck has been dogging lately and realized it's been almost three years on the fuel filter. I've been running about four gallons of used motor oil and transmission fluid, which I suspect has been cleaning the gunk out of the fuel system. With the vacuum pump to pull the diesel...
How about these?
16.5 8-lug dually wheels off 1970's Dodge motor home. They're cheap, but I'm not sure how common 16.5" tires are outside the military.
I think I remember reading somewhere that I can swap in new brake drums (just the drums, no other changes) to make the axles 6-lug? It would be more convenient if it had the same pattern as my M1009 and 6-lug are more plentiful.
The six-lug was just the picture I was able to find. I was wondering what the bore size needed to be (min) to fit my M1101 trailer. Unless you've all been saying all along that the GM eight-lug wheels only ever came with one bore size. The six-lug wheels came with at least two bore sizes, and...
Does anyone know what the BORE size needs to be? I see ads on craigslist for Silverdao wheels but the bore looks much smaller than even my 6-lug M1009 wheels.
Try to post some clear pictures from above and the sides. The bracket may be on wrong. When I put mine back on it didn't line up, then I realized I had the adjuster on the wrong side of its mating bracket.
Take them out of the truck and put them in the freezer overnight. In the morning quickly install them in the truck and see if it cranks. That won't factor in the cold engine oil but it might give you a guess.
It looks like a great way to adapt a lunette ring to a civie trailer hitch. Lop off that ring on the extension and machine it to allow you to bolt or weld on a ball coupler.
Would let you keep the ring on your mil trailer and swap back and forth between your mil or civ vehicle for towing.
Drove the 09 out to Quilcene to the Ranger Station to give them $5 for a tree cutting permit, then up into the mountains for our tree. The studded snow/mud tires were great. Wife got some video and I'll try to get it off her phone and post it up.
It's Monday and the SF-97 arrived via FedEx. I dashed down after work to the licensing office. The SF-97 was made out to IronPlanet (not me) and there was another paper assigning the trailer to me, which caused the licensing guy some consternation but he didn't turn me away. $87 and 10...
I put the studded snow tires on my M1009 today. The BFGs on the aluminum wheels have a larger bore hole so the disk that holds the spare tire to the mount in the bed is too small. I'll have to rig something up.
