To the extent that you can follow the chewed end and get a wire number, that will tell you which wire it is, and then you can look at the schematic to find the two ends, and double check with a DVM that the frayed bit goes to where you think does.

Yes, I was remembering four wraps from somewhere, and eyeballing the photos above, it seemed like it was closer to eight conductors on @Pirotess's unit, but I had forgotten that the conductors are doubled.

What is the correct number of wraps on a current transformer? I thought that I had seen a number somewhere, but on rereading a TM, it just recommends the same as before when replacing. I thought that I had seen a number of wraps specified somewhere, but I am not finding it at the moment...

+1 on SeaFoam in the fuel, and in via the "glow plugs" (aka intake heaters) to get it into the top of the cylinders. SeaFoam makes a version designed to be sprayed in the intake while running specifically to remove carbon and free up rings...

FWIW: It may not matter as much in dry Colorado, but you can also get IEC 60309, pin and sleeve connectors and outlets that are waterproof, available in both three phase and single phase 120/240 versions. It is the same standard used on the standard spiders.

Ok. I find that is helpful. I can live with random stuff happens.
It did take me awhile on the schematics to realize that the wire was probaly E100. I wonder if part of the issue was that the wire is part of both the DC and the AC (ground) circuits, so neither fish nor fowl.

That is good news as it seems 10ga wire seems to be much easier to find. I'm still a little curious as to how someone put enough amps into that wire to char it.
I was looking at the first photo again, and I think that there is a terminal ring there on the neutral lug...
My apologies for posting incorrectly, and for not describing the location accurately. The wire that I meant does run from the starter to TB1.
You can see the bare wire on the attachment side, as well as the chewed on filter(?).

I'm still learning how to use them, and slowly going through them. I need a little more familiarity to get the hang of the NSN and how to backtrack them a meaningful description and a part number. I went through that TM schematic...

I did have an earlier poke around the net trying to run down the snazzy fiberglass tinned wire and there didn't seem to be many sources in 6Awg...

It is an MEP-803A, and unfortunately the wire is so charred that I haven't found legible numbers anywhere. I think it is wire 100E (the connection between the engine 12V ground on the frame, and the GND ground lug on the output panel). Eyeballing...
