I think so. Not totally sure. I took the float out and tested it's function while my wife started the gen. After that I was sure the float was ok. Reinstalled the float and made sure it seemed to have good clearance. Now all is good.
Ok,
Looks like I'm back to the drawing board. I installed new dual float switch and now I have a new problem. It's not tripping the breaker anymore. When set to prime and run, it stops after a few seconds. When I set it to start, it turns over, does not start than is unresponsive. If I set...
As I have been working on this I realized the original floats are foam and the new one has polymer floats. Why anyone would design a foam float to sit in diesel fuel for years, I don't know. Hopefully this one lasts forever.
Hello,
I just did this. With s1 in prime + Aux it works fine with aux pump unplugged and aux pump plugged in. Do I need to replace the double float aux fuel sensor? Can it be taken out and repaired? Thanks
OK,
So, generator runs fine on main tank. When I set it to aux fuel it sometimes runs for a while then trips cb1
After this it will throw the breaker as soon as I turn the main switch to aux prime and run. Pump runs for about 2-3 seconds the circuit breaker trips.
Thanks for any tips
OK,
Whenever I set the generator to aux fuel it runs for about 2 seconds then trips the breaker. House tank works fine.
My theory is that the pump is gummed up maybe from the leftover sesame seed oil in my drum?
Any other ideas?
I did a lot of testing of my unit last summer, running the house on it etc. I wish I had setup my aux fuel situation then too. It's much better to do all your testing in the summer than in the middle of the winter during a windy ice storm.
It's fun running this thing though.
Thanks for the help fellas. Another question, the drum I bought had sesame seed oil in it. I don't plan to clean it, just add diesel and go. Is this a bad idea?
I figured the miniscule amount of sesame seed oil wouldn't hurt anything.
Hello,
Power has been out for 6 days now. I got tired of filling the tank so I went out and got a barrel.
I have the military dip tube and have it hooked up. I'm about to go out and get some fuel.
Do I need to open the small cap to vent? Or does the military auxiliary tube have some kind of...
Hello,
I have my generator connected through a transfer switch with neutral bonded at main panel.
The cable from the generator to the house is about 150 feet. Is there any reason not to also drive a ground rod at the generator?
Thanks
I have a reliance pro/tran transfer switch. Can I just plug the generator into the power inlet box but not switch the transfer switch from line to gen? I am pretty sure the ground goes all the way through and is not switched?
I did have an electrician install this switch.
Thanks
Hello,
I have the Map-802a properly grounded when connected to my house through a transfer switch.
My question is when I am not connected to the house for load testing or other purposes do I need to reattach the ground strap and drive a ground rod?
Thanks
I do have other diesel equipment. I have a small John Deere 455 diesel with front end loader. I probably only use 15-20 gallons of fuel per year if that. I also have a gasoline commercial zero turn. I have been on the lookout for a diesel zero turn which would make it easier to turn over fuel.
