You may want to hold on to that, it's either a one off that someone had made, or a pattern from one of the manufacturers. I got curious and searched the web too, found plans for a 3D printer, but no full size plastic tops.
Positive side, you won't have to worry about batteries for 10 years if you maintain them, there's not much electrical draw on these. Might not be a bad idea to try and find some decent tires on wheels along the way for spares, no such thing as too many tires from what I understand.
8k per wheel for me would be plenty I think, the only real work the truck does is haul large logs and move things my yard truck can't. Also 60 pound wheels sound waaaaay better than 105. I hadn't even considered that commercial tires are able to be retreads. That alone is a huge bonus
Those also would let me retain duals, definitely going to look into it. I would really like to go to a one piece wheel if possible, which it looks like those are. Are there any downsides to the 24.5s aside from tire cost?
Good plan. Some other useful info: oil pressure should be 10-15 psi at idle at 200°f, 50-75 psi at cruising speed (2100 rpm) 200°f. Engine coolant temp should not exceed 220. Your gear ratio is 6.72:1, you're going to be running between 130 and 150hp, downshifts are your friends, speed doesn't...
Not necessarily, you will have to jack the truck up enough to wiggle the wheel back and forth and in and out. There's good tutorials for checking them on YouTube, probably a couple good threads on here as well.
Beautiful truck. Definitely map your route with clearance in mind, mine has a nice tag inside which reads 13'2, and I don't have a van body. Keep an eye on the coolant temp and oil pressure, and I strongly recommend test driving at night before you try to cover any distance. Maybe it's just...
I can't say enough about the deuce. I wanted one for years, just wasn't "practical", until it was, now I kick myself for waiting so long 😆. This is my first MV, first diesel, and largest vehicle I've driven. Shift pattern takes a little getting used to, and it's slow in stock form, but you will...
If the truck runs and drives normally after starting, fuel delivery is not the issue. Some trucks were designed to start with the accelerator pedal pressed, depending on the layout of the dashboard (source is the tm from 1981, starting procedure shows two methods, depending on layout). I'm...
Exactly! Where I am literally anyone regardless of license type can jump in a class A pusher with air brakes and enough power to pull a hotel behind it and drive it anywhere. 5 ton pickup? Class B CDL. M36? Class A CDL. M998 hmmvw? Not road legal. 40ft Monaco with 600hp, tow package, quad slide...
See we have (or are supposed to have) a constitutional amendment to protect us from such things in the U.S. I read here recently that M998s are restricted to off-road use only, because they don't meet highway safety standards or epa highway regulations, but in my state you can get a permit to...
I Understand completely if this post gets removed, it's on the fringe of the TOU, but this has to be said. It seems like a lot of us are fighting to get these vehicles titled, insured, and down the road, and why? What ever happened to the constitutional right to travel uninhibited and...
