Can't claim expertise on trans fluids, but my motor oil to Transyn in an M3070 seems to be gum free and smooth.

Look up Broke Overland's snow straps.... There is some new technology I saw a while back. Basically it drives a platform mounted underneath and parallel to the frame, down into the cement to stop a truck. Don't recall much else.

Don't think it is absolutely crucial, since you end up with a synthetic blend. Better than plain oil.

Transmission fluid get heated by the engine. Plain oil was used due to availability. I assume that your Sunoco was synthetic? Heat is what destroys transmissions typically. In the South, Transyn Allison or equivalent is best.

I'd pay that, but...well it's missing the 3rd windshield wiper...

Having gone end to end on my truck and seeing the cracked hoses and leaky seals all over the place, I would not recommend this type of driving. I am not sure, but I think the vents for the axles went under water. Took water in??? Hope he checks his pumkins this Halloween.
