Well I have been getting some stuff done. I have pulled the factory exhaust off the motor, and have the intake off. I started pulling the 6.2 today. I have the hood off, alts, starter, radiator, wiring unhooked from the engine and should have it out tomorrow.
Hopefully have pics tomorrow
Here are the pics of the manifold.
The other night I pulled the old intake to see what ports the head have. It's an oval port block so I can now order my Intake I need. I'm putting an edelbrock aluminum one on.
I went with carb because of the simplicity of the system no electronics and also I don't really have the time or funding to be doing a big efi set up right now. I am trying to get the truck ready for GA rally.
The stock manifolds it had where full of these ports and crap for the emissions junk...
This was I know they will bolt up and clear everything and they won't be scrap in a year of hard use. I run my truck hard so I don't have time for parts that dont hold up.
I got to hurry up, I am having to swap in a new engine into my cucv. The 6.2 just keeps having to many issues so I have a 454 big block gasser to drop in.
Oh poopoo I have lot to get done.
The oil cooler adapter is nice I will be removing it for now though. I will deal with that after ga rally.
I have no idea if it had hydroboost brakes or not, I didn't look for the master cylinder. I was working on engineand transmission and nothing else. Didn't need it so don't care about it.
Engine is out of the coach and on a pallet back at my shop.
I pulled transmission, lift pump, exhaust manifolds, and some more of the useless smog hoses.
Parts list is being put together also.
Edelbrock performer intake, 750cfm edelbrock carburetor, headers, new motor mount, hoses, belts...
That's kinda what I figured, lmc showed one cable but rock auto showed 2 and they where different lengths. Guess I'll go to Napa. They are usually better than anywhere else anyway, I usually buy parts from them and nowhere else.
Hey everyone this thread is to document my big block swap on my cucv m1008.
thanks again for all the information that was provided in this thread ( http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?158547-cucv-m1008-6-2-to-454-big-block-swap-questions ).
I am going to put a edelbrock performer...
This is the coach im pulling the engine from and how it currently sets. Engine should be ut and on the ground by lunch time tomorrow. I have the exhaust, hoses, linkages, and everything loss from the engine and transmission. just a couple wires left and out it will come. should start to install...
Thank you guys for all this information.
The coach is based on a P30 so it does have a carburetor and th400 transmission. I will be throwing a lot of stuff in the trash on this engine. Going to put an edelbrock performer intake and 750 carburetor on it. Maybe some headers and new better looking...
