Ok, let's stop acting like children and get back to the point at hand.
I also think it is extremely unlikely that someone fired multiple rounds through the floorboard of the vehicle, but if you feel it gives you a cool story, then go for it. You'll likely get a lot of chocked eyebrows though...
Agreed. I think the novelty for many agencies have worn off. They get them for "emergencies" and then sit stagnant 98pct of them time. ****, I've got a sheriff's agency near me that has 12 of them for "emergencies" and most wouldn't start on demand if needed given how long they've sat unused.
I would have to agree with Gordon. Now is also a good time to install a ground harness as well. If you don't, you will likely have ground issues again.
I see your in Dacula - you're not terribly far from me (Athens area).
Take a look at the Operators Manual.
Per page 2-108 of the Operators Manual (section 2-11):
"Vehicle must be stopped, engine off and transmission shift lever placed in "N" (neutral) before transfer case can be shifted. Failure to do this will result in damage to drivetrain."
I agree with you on that. They were generally useless as we always carried way more ammo, water and fuel than there were trays to put it all in. I get the purpose of the slantback, but the accommodations for loadouts that were planned for the vehicles never jived with reality, even in the...
If I wasn't traveling this past week, I would have taken advantage of the weather to paint mine too. I'll probably just wait til springtime to do mine. ......
I don't mean for this to be an "I told ya so", but more to help others who are also going down this road to new HMMWV ownership.
It's easy to get excited with a new toy and immediately want to take it for a spin to "try her out" when in reality, this isn't the best course of action. There's no...
I completely agree with the above statement. It's the risk you take with something listed as a "non-runner" and you're expecting an awful lot from a business with essentially a monopoly on military vehicle auctions. IP/GP isn't the used car lot down the road that is competing with 50 other use...
That's a good idea. I think it would be better to start a thread for exactly that so that this thread can be kept clean with pictures or comments about the pictures.
I'd love a set of supplemental armor doors so that I can do it like the truck I had in the Marines. Beggars can't be choosers though and I'm quite happy with the X-doors I have.
I've priced out the other options for doors for my truck and found that regardless of if they're military doors, H1 doors or the Cal-Gold does - they're ALL expensive.
I ended up biting the bullet and just bought a set of military X doors.
