Guess who will be joining me next in my family?
Just won this today on GovPlanet.
Won’t start but otherwise complete aside from missing windshields and missing doors. Made her quite “affordable”.
Received and measured a takeout HMMWV dashboard. Dashboard base unit is a simple rectangular footprint with one angled edge, and passenger and driver side tabs held in place with rivets. The angled and shaped bits interfere with gauge placement. Rather than use body filler and such to fill it in...
Diagrams and legends will explain which terminal does what.

I went 765R4 in my M1025. Works awesome.
I prefer my M1165 with 4L80E, BUT there is that tranny electrical stuff. It has a turbo so it has more power. It also has a tranny electrical issue that a 700R4 is immune to.
Bouncing gauge had to do with the old style protective control boxes. Some people called it afterglow. The glow plugs would continue to get electricity periodically in order to help the engine warm up while running. Then it would stop. That has nothing to do with your current Battery issues

EDIT- a little birdie sent me a private message. That top is not the HMC4 top that I have on my M1165. It is...
I have that truck more or less.
The top alone is rare and sells for buku dollars.
That clean turbo truck is easily worth it.
Makes me feel good about the time and $$$ I’ve been sinking into mine.
Welcome. Great rig!
Could be a few things. My list below is not complete.
Check battery connections. Seriously. Loose ones can do this.
Make sure batteries are charged.
Retired War Horses is a HMMWV mechanic. Listen to him. Try wiggling the gear selector in park OR try starting in Neutral...
Place a heavy grease and Vaseline soaked rag through injector hole. Over drill and tap it out and use thread replacement. Vacuum out the area. Pull the oil soaked clothe slowly. Blast high pressure air. Look with boroscope and if fragments remain, blastout with oil or soapy water until clear.
