When I lived in Colorado, my vehicle batteries usually lasted about 10-years. Here in the Arizona heat though, I am lucky to get 3-years out of them before they die.

I just know theory at this point. Shavings mean the gears are not meshing right, maybe not audibly grinding, but grinding enough to slowly shave off bits of the teeth. Anyone on here with practical knowledge that could give more insight?

How much does it usually cost to have the heads flattened if they are rough? Is it something that can be done in the field or does it need some whiz-bang piece of tech with laser pointers and computerized servos? :-?

I'm guessing "a little silvery" might be the problem. It must have loads of shavings in it to look silvery.
