I have a form-6 in process for the vehicle (most of a month), will I need a second for the demilled gun? I had assumed that since it wasn't an actual weapon of any sort it was just part of the vehicle.
I'm still hanging about how to demill the breech area, does the whole thing need to be...
last thing, I promise. :)
It is common for the British vehicles to have been lavished with attention. Perhaps because they have no guns then direct the energy elsewhere but they don't really seem to count the effort in restoration and repair as having value like we would so you can get a real...
I almost forgot, if you are going to bring one over do your import research. There are several good threads here but a couple points and suggestions:
look in the services classifieds for a shipper and ask if they have ever moved a _ (whatever you want) and some idea of price.
RORO shipping can...
OK, more detail about your situation helps. $30K... that's tough... doable but tough. One thing that might help with the spouse if you are doing your own import is show her the prices of something already here vs. what you hope to spend. The other thing that makes me really fear for you is...
I considered the Saurer when I was shopping, as you say the videos look great and you have to love the price and quality. I would strongly encourage you to buy all the spares you can at the time.
I finally decided to go with the British CVR(T) family from a spares availability and size...
I'm part way through my first import for a British armored vehicle and so far it hasn't been too bad, the form-6 is pretty straightforward, I went with a shipper and customs broker that were experienced with the process and that's been a help. I'll update you if I get held up by anything.
I know it needs a demill beyond what the UK did already but I'm not sure if it's "the usual" for importing other types of firearms.
I checked the AFT site and while they have online help for things like a G3 or FAL they don't have anything on a falling-block gun. I tried contacting the...
He has 6x but is keeping one (the only tank), the remainders are $15K/each
They are missing their heat exchangers, most or all periscopes, and are generally very rough I'm told.

So, has anyone driven theirs enough to have a sense of actual fuel consumption?
I saw a specified range of 300 miles and know they have 2x75 gallons of fuel capacity so it's at least 2mpg but I don't know under what conditions that was taken.
On-road, pretty lightly loaded would be the number...
OK, so as I prepare my first form-6 (for a CVR(T) ) I've got some questions.
US munitions import list category. Looks like it's a 7 but is that all I need in that box?
Folks have suggested filling it out and then going shopping but there are boxes for things I don't have an answer to yet...
A fellow has a couple british APCs for sale and I'm trying to figure out what this would cost to get home.
For those unfamiliar, a CVR(T) is tracked armor 17' long, 7'wide, 6'10" high weighing about 8tons.
I'm really very open schedule-wise and the more specific locations are west of...

Well, it's a mixed-bag. We are on a restricted road according to Caltrans. We don't have trash service, UPS delivers but FEDEX usually will not (depends on the driver). Cal fire can get up here but it takes some time and a week ago they showed up to an incident with a good amount...
The Hotchkiss is located in CZ so not demilled but a good reminder about such things. The CVR(T) is (according to Jane's) rated for 14.5mm on the front and I gather the CVR(T) up-armor for the fv103 is good for .50 on the sides, while I think I read the Hotchkiss supposedly will take 20mm on...
Like many members on here I just prefer self-reliance, I think I'll keep an eye out for a deal but just assume I'm going to need some help until I know what my trips actually shape up to be.
I honestly think I'm looking at one or two trips per year:
local, about 80 miles but up a tight road so...
Well, it actually just makes me want to buy a spare set of track and stock up on 1-trip premits. :)
I can always get a rollback and use the spare deck for a tiny house trailer so it's a "self-contained camper" and thus non-commercial.
I sort of knew it wasn't going to be easy like "Buy a 5-ton...
I agree that it is a sobering thought to consider an accident is a one-piece rig and gives one pause, I think I could get enough heavy chain going to feel alright about it with the idea since it makes the total rig much smaller and lighter than going with a trailer, which should reduce the odds...
Thanks for the suggestions. 25+years is a good consideration. A 5-tonner was my first thought but that and a trailer is really cumbersome to get up the road. I actually started to wonder about a MK48 I saw for sale locally but even a good deal on one digs into the wallet.
The idea of an M125...
No help with the megasquirt. I ran an early version of the Holley on a AMC 360 where I saw a large jump in mileage and felt it worth the money but more recently I did a Holley Pro-jection TBI 1-bbl kit on a flathead-6 jeep and wish I hadn't. It provided good cold start and running and somewhat...
Thanks for the feedback.
Found a couple parts vehicles for the French (as opposed to many dozen for the British but still) and happy to do a re-power in the larger engine bay of the French so not as dire as all that but point well taken. Good tip on the Ford motor, nice to have an option.
I...
