Just checked the weather forecast. Looks like thunder showers Wednesday and Thursday, clearing Friday and Saturday. Looks to be a muddy Haspin this year..............
M37 is in the bed of the 5 ton.. Went by the supermarket to buy some food for Haspin. When I came out, had 3 people standing around the M814 looking at the "rig". Guy offered to buy M37. I told him he didn't have enough money.
I hope to get the half built house thingy on the hill. Ferro and I still plan on rolling in about lunch time Wed. I just finished going over the M814, and plan to load it with stuff this afternoon, then load the M37 in the bed around 1830 tonight.
I will do the hardball rally again- easy peasy lemon squeezy.......
I will also man the registration table on Wednesday, along with Phil, if he will stand me.......
I will be there, from Friday the 3rd to Sunday late...... CAN"T WAIT
Just need to check fluids, shoot some grease into zerk fittings, check the gear oil level in the tranny and transfer case, load the M37 in the bed, buy food, load food in truck, load my stuff in the truck, hitch up the hooch, drive 500 plus miles...........
I thought I was cool when I took my M814 into the woods. Other then amazing folks by missing all the trees with that long honker, I am still paying the price for that stupid little excursion.
Now, the most dirt the M814 sees is a huge field at the Haspin and Ga rallies.
After fixing my fuel issues that popped up during the Coca Cola 600, it looks like Ferro and I will be making the trek from SC to Haspin. Looks like we are leaving on Tuesday afternoon, sleeping somewheres in TN/KY, with arrival early afternoon Wednesday.
I will be driving the M814"Long Easy"...
Butch, if you would, please forward my portion to the chaplan of Steel Soldiers. Because of this group, I have made many friends, and have done things that I am sure I would have never done in this life.
I would like to do it again next year, minus the fuel issues.
So 48 won. Must have been all the good karma I was feeling, plus I had Murphy riding with me all day long.
I fought fuel supply issues all day long. Truck ran great until the point that I needed it the most. Then she fought me all the way home, till she finally died in my driveway, and I...
All bob tail tractors ride rough EMD'S first law of tractor trailer driving.
After 1800 miles in Ferro's 915, we are also convinced that the 915 spent more time in the air then on the ground. I will never drive that tractor bob tail again. My back aches just from the thought.
His name did pop up at Findlay. We wondered if he would dare to show his face there. Even after 5 years, people still mention his name with a terse tone.
