    On one of mine, I took the USA number, the four digit model number and the five digit actual serial number to make a 17 character VIN. DMV clerks put it in and I got my title and registration (as a 'property carrying' vehicle).

    Run the ground lead on the VOM back to the neg on the rear battery. You might have a bad ground. These trucks are famous for having bad grounds!

    Look for a .PDF version of GTA 9-1-185 (5 pages), print it off and keep it in your binder for the deuce. it's title is "Systematic Inspection Procedure for the 2 1/2 Ton Truck". The Lube Order is LO 9-2320-209-12-1 and is 14 pages long. Keep it in your truck binder also.

    You are correct. They add the specific 'juice' for each brand, it's less than 1 part in 1000 and is done first when the tanker truck is loaded. Same deal with the 'bio'/alcohol stuff put in. It goes in first, then the generic gasoline/diesel fills the tank to it's capacity, mixing everything...

    A deuce will run without an in-tank pump, as long as there is no air in the lines going all the way to the injectors. One way to accomplish this is to 'pressurize' the tank with air. Several methods have been described in other threads, pick one.

    And to set the seals evenly, make a tool out of a four inch schedule 40 "Y" plastic pipe. It's just the right size to evenly smack them on, and you hold it by the 'side' angle and whack it with a stout piece of wood on the top end. It does not take a lot of force.

    Sounds like you only had a 'surface charge', try leaving the charger on each battery at least three days. It will cycle on and off, but will get a little 'deeper' charge each time.
