Don't forget either to put the caging pin assemblies ( i.e. 'pin" the brakes) in the rear brake chambers or supply air between the towing vehicle and the towed truck to keep the brakes released. 809s and such did not have this issue.
The parts book, i.e. The "-20p" for the vehicle series will list "usability codes" by fsn for each vehicle covered by the book. Thus the different transmissions for trucks with and without power take offs and other such differences can be figured
out to obtain the correct parts.
How are are you towing it ? For a short trip put the transfer case and transmission in neutral, hook up drawbar to front shackle points and go. If you
aree worried about stopping it furnish two 10' or so air lines with glad hands at each end and attach to towing vehicle's rear air lines and...
Power steering is 10 weight motor oil (OE10) and don't overfill it. engine is 15-4 0E and gear boxes are GO 90. Grease is cheap and parts are expensive. This truck has almost 100 grease points. read the reading: get the pubs: operator's manual, organizational manual, parts book and a...
When you get around to greasing it one of the most important fittings on the truck is under the cab on a bellcrank associated with the brake linkage. If this sticks for lack of lubrication the truck either will not build air pressure or the service brakes will drag. Also in the steering...
M 911S are overwidth at the rear tires. m 1070 is standard width but the trailer that goes with it is overwidth as is the intended payload i.e. a m1 tank. Both tractor
and trailer have cramp steering and it is amazing where you can go with that compared to coventcially steered trailer trucks.
I moved one on a 55 ton rgn trailer with a 2' deck height which makes the load 13' high which will pass under bridges on the interstate system. A 5th wheel
tractor is required at each end of the job to load/unload the payload as the tractor that pulls the trailer is trapped with the gooseneck...
Got a 2/12 ton or larger military truck ? No problem. Check air pressure in all 4 tires, lights work, hook up airlines correctly to towing vehicle. Make sure safety pin
is in pintle hitch. Commercial truck of same size ? a 12 volt light bar will be required for lights. Pick up truck for prime...
Registration number would suggest vehicle was manufactured in 1970 probably by Kaiser Jeep in South Bend, IN. Find Carnac's site, he has access to historical data and tells you how to format it for submission.
The truck is a standard cargo truck with a locally fabvricated collapsable wood shelter over the cargo bed. These were designed to telescope down to reduce the height of the vehicle if it was to be stowed on a ship. uses included but were not limited to, supply tyrucks, mess trucks, various...
Bought a M185 2.5 ton van a few years ago which was dominciled at a NJARNG 3rd escelon shop. Dead batteries of course. Trailered it home and found radiator less than full. Filled radiator to top and let truck sit overnight and into the next (warm) day. Found coolant under radiator next day...
Model 12 grader with pony start. Made in 1957 for Corps of EDngineers and acquired by a DPW in MA that sold it to me. Also has Omaha Steel cable operated wing plow.
Better call the site today and get an appointment. I belive that they do not ship on Friday or Monday. Check with them; it is not show up and get loaded cold.
REMEMBER THERE ARE CHECK VALVES THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO KEEP THE AIR FROM LEAKING BACK THROUGH THE COMPRESSOR. nO LEAKS AT THE AIR HORN ? wINDSHIELD WIPER CONTROL VALVE NOT LEAKING ? ACCESORY AIR PETCOCK ON PASSENGER'S SIDE OF FIREWALL CLOSED (THIS IS WHERE YOU HOOKED UP THE ORIGINAL BILI AIR...
