    multifuel "C" turbo on M35A3 ?

I guess what I am looking for is a quantitative technical description of what is better, how much it is better, and why. Are new turbos a 50%, 20%, or an incremental improvement over the 4LE or 3LM? "WAAAAY" doesn't really answer the question.

    multifuel "C" turbo on M35A3 ?

Can you give some details about what makes them archaic? The "d" isn't THAT old.

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

I don't think evidence supports the bottom end being overstressed. The bottom end failures seem to be more due to bolt fatigue than bearing fatigue. Has anyon blown out one of the newer (Victor 5818 ) head gaskets ?

    Death of a Multifuel

My OA331 was like this. The previous owner capped off the valve cover vent causing blooms of rust on the rocker arms. I just cleaned off what I could with a wire bruch and shop vac.

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

I don't think that the military requirements were very stringent. White motors had their own engine competing as a multifuel replacement for the Reo gas engine. The White was also a modified gas engine based on the Reo V8 using a pre-combustion chamber. Here is what the White literature had...

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

If you look back in the old Motors repair books, it is pretty clear that the MF was based on the TD-6427 Continental diesel truck engine which was in turn based on their gas enghine; NOT a tractor engine. The MF got the larger rod bearing size from the next larger R series, and a main bearing...

I was always of the opinion that the multi vibrated less than my 5.9 cummins.

    turbo question

I want opinions on whether or not this turbo is usable. There is a small nick on one fin and a slight bend in another. I contacted a turbo rebuild shop, emailed a few pics and got the answer that the wheel is out of balance and will take the bearings out and I should always buy a new turbo...

Little head studs came out. What now?

I've also found that loctite works the best for sealing studs into water jackets. Especially if they are loose threads.

To Plow or not to Plow that is the question?

My 1953 was a plow truck and in perfect, rust free condition when I bought it. Given the option of other, better plow trucks, it never got used.

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

I found this to be an interesting post by Bob S: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?20442-Brand-new-FMTV-spotted&p=212593&viewfull=1#post212593 The Hercules engine (multifuel) never had to pass emissions either. FMTV was the first program that Congress had mandated had to meet...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

Even in the low compression tractors, these engines were relatively short lived: Today's Tractors :: View topic - White 2-155 Hercules engine ? http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thr...ed&setCookie=1 http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thr...ed&setCookie=1...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

I would offer this: 1) Based on what I have read here, most LDT owners turn the fuel up well beyond the LDS ~10 psi setpoint. The higher fuel rate makes it easeir to get too hot, fast. 2) We really don't know how hot the LDS runs. This question has been asked here before but no answers....
