I shot them a message. We'll see what they say.

    windshield removal

I just walked out to look at it again and my glass is starting to delaminate as indicated by the fogging around the edges. So I think I'm in the market for new glass anyway. On a whim I contacted the manufacturer sales rep in Indianapolis to see if they can do anything, or if I'm stuck buying...

    windshield removal

I've seen two types. One seal with molded in corners, the other just a long single piece of seal. I do not think the long seal is anything special, but maybe they do not fit as well as the ones with the proper molded in corners. IDK I might just bin the whole thing and put new glass in. Mine...

    windshield removal

I'm pretty sure I can save the glass by cutting the seal all the way around. Sourcing the correct seal might be an issue though.

    windshield removal

I'm considering removing the windshield from my LMTV in order to make installing the A/C unit (and making some cab improvements easier. In planning to install the interior A/C unit, I figure there will be many, many trips in and out of the cab as well as many cycles of raising and lowering the...

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

I'm interested to hear how you did yours. I sat the winch assembly on a hydraulic lifting cart and jacked it into position, but it was not quite vertical enough, so I ran a large ratchet strap fro around the winch hydraulic motor, over the frame rails to the drivers side and up to one of the bed...

I managed to get the winch drum hung on the frame last night. What a beast.

    Cab Vent Knob

FWIW, I've used the set screw type for a long while in a Jeep without issue. But I do not disagree, the proper screw on type is probably better. It looks like 3/16" might be a common size for drawer pulls. If that's the case you could drop by Lowes and pick up a screw on knob in any of a...

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

Yes. But.. The cab is designed to carry a gun ring, gun, ammo, and a gunner. Also, I think I'd work a system where the tire is mounted and dismounted with the cab tilted forward. Easier to manage the overhang, distance to the ground etc... Maybe using some big cargo drawer slides, that slide...

    Cab Vent Knob

Older Jeep had knobs that frequently need replaced. You might try a search for knobs for an old Jeep CJ. I had some trick aluminum ones back in the day that were secured with a set screw, so they would fit a wide range of applications. I found these in a few seconds, but there are others out...

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

That unit is exactly what I bought. Then I swapped one of the inexpensive electric winches in for that junk hand crank, and replaced the steel cable with synthetic. I used a 2 inch hitch extension to stick down in the parachute mounting hole and pin it with the chute pin, then drilled a hole in...

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

I thought about doing that as well. Im interested in seeing how you plan to get the tire on and off the top of the cab. I have a small Harbor Freight truck bed crane that I modified to fit into one of the parachute attachment points in the bed. I'm thinking of rigging a point for it to mount on...

LMTV/FMTV Dump trucks - worth it?

I nearly bought a dump truck, ultimately decided to go with an m1078. Hoping to put a dump hoist setup on it once I get the winch installed and sorted.

Class E in GA still a viable option?

It's also worth noting that "you" do not own it, the LLC does. And the LLC resides out-of-state. So the laws requiring personal vehicles to be registered within 30 days of residing there do not really apply. What can be an issue however is insurance. Our vehicles can be hard enough insure, but...

Class E in GA still a viable option?

There are businesses in Montana that specialize in creating the LLC and registering vehicles. As a bonus, Montana has no sales tax, Lots of folks leverage this for high-priced RVs/Boats/Supercars, where the tax savings can easily offset the hassle and extra expense of maintaining an LLC.

Will these brakes fit a 1998 A0 FMTV?

I saw those yesterday. I did not think they would fit at first glance. The air chamber looked wrong to me. But, I did some sleuthing based on the non and manufacturer part numbers and it looks to be made by Navistar (not Meritor) for a m1249 MRAP recovery vehicle. I do not know much about the...
