In snow season keep the tractor under a trailer or cover the fifth wheel jaw with something to keep snow out of the jaw. The presense of snow in the jaw could resujlt in a false lock up of the jaw with the subsequent release of the trailer at speed. Very embarassing: landing gear fold up, air...
Yes it shares its fluid (gear oil) with the transmission it is mated to. Is this thing engaged: i.e. turning when the engine is running and the clutch engaged ? Fluiid level is checked by removing the fill plug on the left side of the transmission with a 15/16 wrench and sticking your finger in...

M105 trailer has air/hydraulic brakes = m35 or better to pull especially with 4800# of fuel in a 600 gallon tank which brings up the issues of placards , MSDS and CDL with hazmat endoresement if you go one foot on public roads.
Remember they come with the big king pin same same a M747 and you need a tractor with a winch to put it down or pick it up just in case you do not already have a 916 or 920.
The ratio for pujlly v. cable diameter is 12:1 for cable and 3:1 for rope. 1/2" cable therefore requires a 6" sheave or pully3/4" equates to 9" etc. Hpefully the hooks, beckets, side plates etc will mastch the capacity of the cable thjat is sized for the block.
24v headlights are available from numerous suppliers advertizing in military vehicles etc. They are not unique to five tons, same ones fit in every wheeled vehicle from jeeps to ten tons that have 24v lights. Tracks are different and semi commercial trucks like the M 915 are also different.
Yes the power divider has its own fill plug which is different from the carriers as it is a pipe plug with a 1/2" female boss which would require a 1/2" drive to get it out. Pic of LO attached to show its location. It will probably be easier to remove the deck plates between the cab and the...
Trucks going up for sale at Mechanicsburg frequently appear without the instrument planel and gauges to save you from radium exposure. Also fluids may be removed to protect the environment so you may have to bring oil etc. Depends on which unit turned the truck in and how diligent they followed...
Placards on door suggest vehicle was used to haul ammo so it would have to have been maintained to get through the inspection point at the ammo dump. How long ago that was is anybody's guess.
One of forward rear or intermediate axle is same: higher and larger plug also 3/4" boss faces rear of truck. Takes about 4 gallons of GO to fill each one if they are empty plus a couple of quarts for the power divider on the forward axle.
Looked at truck today. M 915 not like 809 series. This has a 3/4" square boss on the check plug so an open end wrench should do. Check-fill plug is the higher and larger one on the rear of carrier. Pic attached. Plug is visible beneath right tail ligfht. Smaller and lower plug is for a...
