    Engine won't turn off?

Put in high gear and stall the engine. Park inb neutral so if someone bumps it with another vehicle it does not start and drive off which will happen if fuel valve is open and truck is in gear.

    M989 11 ton trailer questions

M172 is 114" wide. Need overwidth permit for public road. Pull m 989 with a m 109 ? Will the airpump keep up with the demand for air from four full air brake wheels ? We had a notice not to pull m 872 34t trailers with m52a2s which have the same air pump for that reason. M 818, 915-16 all have...

    Who has M915 parts?

Try the cummins dealer ? Got a throttle lever for a m818 by taking the engine serial number to the dealer. Other than body parts, most mechanical parts can be sourced from truck dealers: U joints, brakes, engine and trans.

Is this Lock rim ok to remove from truck?

Take the lock ring off clockwise starting at the hole for the tire iron to sit in . Put it back on counter clockwise and finish at the same place. Usually your weight will serve to "walk them on" but stubborn customers may need slight encouragement with a tire hammer. Armymanplus: Never saw a...

    Taillight Question

Eight is too late and if you see at least one white light under the eight red ones brace for the collision because the man in front of you is standing on the brake !

600 gallon aluminum tank on an M105?

Used to haul same 600 gal tanks with diesel fuel in a m105 trailer on paved roads with a m49c back in the day. A hand pump was provided to dispense the contents of the trailer. This was in an era when most of the vehicles were gas burners and diesels the minority.

What to look for on GL

They will give you a sf 97 or a florida title depending if your home state will or will not accept a sf97. New jersey does not so you get a title from florida and flip that to title and register in nj. That is unless you buy a small trailer such as a m101 and then you just get a notorized bill...

    Breaking Down Tires

REMEMBER BREAKING DOWN A 9:00x20 M35 WHEEL-TIRE ASSEMBLY WITH A DUCK BILLED TIRE HAMMER AND A PICK BAR FOR THE LOCK RING IN ABOUT 90 SECONDS. HADEN'T BEEN ON TOO LONG. 11:00x20 TIRES OFF 12 TON TRAILERS THAT WERE DRY ROTTED AND FUEZZED TO THE RIM MIGHT TAKE A HALF HOUR OF SOAKING WITH SOAP ETC...

    backing up in low

When "split shifting" or shifting both transmissions at the same time as when 5th low is achieved and the next gear is 4th high, always upshift first: I.e. Auxilary and the main. When going down through the gears as from 4th high to 5th low: Move main first (upshift) and then the transfer...

High draft pulling without planetary reduction?

Remember m123 ten tons have a live king pin set up with elaborate bevel gear sets on top and bottom of the king pins. Burn up a set of these and you will junk the truck as new ones (from mack as they built the axle) are unavailable.this set up is illustrated in john montville's book on mack trucks.

Need Help Hauling 1968 M35A2 Deuce from CO to TX

The people who are looking for pristine m35a2s for $300 to $500 are also seeming to search for cheap transportation. With fuel at $3.00+ per gallon or at least 50 cents a mile plus at least 50 cents for the driver you cannot afford to turn the key on for $1.25/mile. Add in a pick up or delivery...

    Winch Help.

Get a breakdown on the winch clutch (-30 direct support tm) there are roll pins or such that join the parts of the linkage between the handle and the cutch dog together. I have seen where these break and then winch is then permanently in or out. This will require taking the winch apart to repair...

    m818 towing m818 questions

Towed m 813 from ft. Drum, ny to new jersey once with an m62 and a drawbar. Did not have problems with tracking & all drive shafts were in it. As area 2 observed, if batteries arfe on and light switch at least 1 click to right of dead center, brake lights will work. If towed vehicle is dead...

Found some parts trucks.. to far for most

M 809 with straight air brakes? I remember seeing two 813s so equipped in the early 1990s. Tacom must have been evaluating a kit to convert them to wedge brakes such as a 900 series uses and did not widely implement the plan.thbey had the same brake pedal and foundation brake used on the 900s.

"new" 5 ton for fire dpt

"full" is not a option. 1150 gallons of water weighs about 9200 pounds which will overload a m35a3 especially if operated on unimproved surfaces, as firefighterhill observed. More fire apparatus roll over accidents involve tankers than any other apparatus type. If your expert operators cannot...

    M35 emergency brake?
