    Questions, issues with my CUCV

Agree with everything the guys have already mentioned. The CUCV stickies will have the belt sizes. Replace them all at same time. Not just two. If you haven’t already, replace every single rubber fuel/vacuum line. Including the 2” piece on the transmission vacuum modulator. The rubber...

Petronix Electronic Ignition for Military 283

Isn’t the M114 an artillery piece? What is a Military 283?

    Size of Generator Circuit breaker?

The circuit breaker should have an Amp number marked on it somewhere. But being it’s that old, who knows.

    M10 Ammo Trailer Wire Diagram

Not very familiar with that one. Have you already looked in the trailer TMs?

    Hard starting after warmed up

Fully charge each battery separately, then do a load test. If they check out ok, you have a dying starter.

    Smoking on start up (electrical)

Last time I ordered this, received a box of 5 for that price.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

CUCV and trailer looks like a candidate for MV of the month to me.

    Smoking on start up (electrical)

New starter solenoid should fix the issue. Its still trying to crank because it’s welded itself internally. Cheap fix.

    Good Score!!

    Hard starting after warmed up

Sounds like a modified electrical system. A stock system operating properly will not cycle the glow plugs when engine is warm. The GP temp sensor will tell the GP card not to activate them. No wait light illumination either. Has the wiring been modified? Are you giving it any throttle...

    Idle adjustment

The TM would have been the first place I would have looked. In the time it took to post the question here, the answer could have found in the TM. Of course we all are here to help, but guys also need to do their due diligence.

    Hello All, New member here

Welcome to Steel Soldiers. Sounds like your way ahead of the power curve. Always better to be prepared with a generator than without. Especially in Florida. Pics are are always welcome.

What does the technical manual say?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yes, now I remember. Agree a huge pain to wire that light. Not worth the effort. For those who want to remain tactical, LED lighting doesn’t show up very well with night vision equipment (NVGs). I fly with a set of ANVIS 9 NVGs and sometimes those towers with led lighting are hard to see.

    Brainstorming a Gen Trailer build > mep003a/m101a2

The M116A2’s are hard to come by in this area. Pricey when they do. Would love to have one. Two would be better.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I thought the same thing until I had it apart one day. Hardest part was finding a light socket. The one I used works great. Nice and tight But still unclear if it’s the “officially” correct GM part number. It’s working perfect. A regular 194 bulb would get really hot in such a confined...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Military didn’t order them for a cost issue most likely. Maybe a tactical or parts stocking reason also. I just wired it into the power supply for my engine/trans gauges. About 15” of 18ga wire. Super easy. The LED bulb draws almost nothing. If you rotate the headlight switch all the way...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Installed a transfer case shift indicator light. The ACDELCO bulb socket worked great A Philips 194 LED bulb will not get hot in the tight space and puts out plenty of light More than enough to see the selector and isn’t distracting at night. The CUCVs didn’t come from factory with the...

My M1031 Contact Maintenance Truck project

Get some ACF50 or other corrosion stopping/prevention spray and a extended spray tube. Soak everything you can in between the roof layers to stop the rust. ACF50 creeps really well and last about two years between treatments.
