In my humble opinion you didn't get a lot of bed for the buck. I'd have added at least a foot front and back.
The fabbing and the way it attaches and sits on the truck is top notch.
I have never been refused admission to display but I have had a few of the purists look down their nose at me.
This usually happens when people crowd around my M927A2 and admire it more than their shinny toys.
I also allow people crawl all over my trucks and encourage the parents to let the...
CSMDavis in Mississippi had a bunch of those at one time. I got a spare cable from him. I might sell the old one I replaced which had been spliced if you want to salvage the ends. To save on shipping I could just cut the ends off and mail them in a small box.
There was someone on here that has made an adapter where you can use a gooseneck trailer with the pintle hitch. There were pictures but I'm not a search guru. I think the pictures showed someone pulling a load of hay behind a 5 ton or deuce.
They are horribly slow on the road. That being said they will pull Hells half acre if you can hook to it.
If you buy it and want spare parts there are two of them very close to me but they are in far worse shape than that one.
The good news is you can get them for scrap price and scrap is...
I agree with Ferro....the last time I saw one of those it was on GL in FL and it was a rustbucket. I'd try to save it for the novelty.
They are not common.
Are you sure the fuel shutoff solenoid is allowing the fuel to flow? These trucks are notorious for the solenoid to de-energize and not start. Usually resulting in the operator draining the batteries. Sometimes extended cranking will eventually get the solenoid to energize but it is hard on the...
I put a regular 5 ton dropside bed on my M927A2 and put a 5th wheel behind it.
Long wheel base trucks are not that common.....I would not cut the frame on it to shorten it up.
Short wheel base trucks are going pretty cheap these days.
Welcome to Steel Soldiers and the wonderful world of military vehicles. :cookoo:
There are several collectors of American MV's in your neck of the woods. I would start there.
Buying one over here and shipping it would be expensive.
In the process of battery service. According to the guy at Auto Zone I got one good TL out of four (thank you Murphy). He said one of them was iffy so I'm charging the two best ones and hope I can just run on two batteries. Otherwise I'm looking at about 300 bucks for two high CCA civy...
Were you in Low or High Range?
Sounds like a silly question but 35MPH is the top speed in Low Range in most older military trucks.
If the lever to the right of the drivers seat is down on the floor then you are in Low Range.
What RPM was it turning? Was is smoking and/or skipping? Is it a...
Very sharp truck. I hope it has air conditioning for that hot Fla climate.
I drove one of the older versions back in the 80's at Fort Benning.
They are very versatile trucks.
