I think the easiest way is with the light circuits in series (common terminals jumped together). Apply 24 + to one lamp and negative to the other side. You have to switch both the plus and minus between the hi and lo filaments so that is done with a double pole/double throw (DPDT) relay.
I was already bummed I wasn't going to be able to make this. The pictures reinforce the feeling. I count about 14. is that right? What did it take to pull the tractor our of the mud?
I am darned sure reserving the weekend of the light parade.
I have seen spiders and side gears on cars fail due to lack of lube while at high rpm. (One wheel burnouts on asphalt, dirt, mud, etc). Damage is to the outside bore where the side gear rides in the diff carrier, and to the bore shaft, and back side of the spiders. None of these areas have true...
That's what I said... Another option might be cables, pulleys, and springs. A cable/pulley at the top of the side rail could afford high support when the tailgate is near horizontal and less as it is near full drop due to an over-center effect.
I believe the torsion spring is an elegant solution. However, consider that a spring strong enough to help would hold the tailgate at some partial-open position (like about 90 to 100 deg). The apparent weight of the tailgate starts to drop shortly after passing 90 degrees while the force of the...
I hope you fellas don't mind much if I jump in briefly to shamelessly hijack the thread. Ferrell, I am looking for singling out my newly aquired deuce. I am interested in tires if you got them.
Back to your thread, I go up there for the holiday parades in December. It would be cool to see a...
I'm going to haul a deuce 700 miles with an F450 and a 20K gooseneck. There are some large hills along the way. I am using a friend's truck and trailer. He owns and operates an industrial machine shop and construction company. Do you know anybody that moves a backhow around? Someone with a dump...
Thanks, John. I will keep your number with me, just in case.
By The Way, I was in Ozona with vehicle problems (not MV) this past week. I was able to get myself out of the jam but I have to say that I met some really cool folks at Otters Diesel repair. They gave me a place to work and we shared...
I won a deuce.
I get the soft-stuff theory. It's more the fact that there are considerable ruts and grooves that could put a truck on its side. That would be more involved than some undercarriage repair. The runaway ramps off of TransMountain road here in EP are kept pretty smoothly graded in...
O.K, I told some of you I would keep you posted on my Deuce recovery when plans were laid out. Here it is:
I will meet with the GL rep at North Ft. Hood on Friday Morning (8-17-12). I intend to load the deuce on a trailer and sit at my son's place until Sunday morning, visiting. Then it's 190...
I'm in El Paso. I will be recovering my first MV this week from Hood. It will more than likely be a while before I can meet-n-greet driving a deuce but I have plenty of other rides in the mean time.
As for those runaway ramps, I would think it would be a better ride (slightly) in a duece than...
I am very far from having any experience with what you guys are discussing but I do think there is a posibility the data plate is not retained by true rivets. I have seen alot of data plates attached to may things automotive and generally, rivets are for when the plate is attached to sheetmetal...
Maverick
No, it is not Rickey. For the moment, can everyone please not tell me about any more deuces, I'm already in to deep.
Timothy
Thanks for the offer of support.
And to all of you, I stand ready to help if you need it out Old El Paso way.
