I’ve noticed that there is a quick disconnect on some fan clutch hoses. I don’t happen to have one and am not currently looking for one. It seems the only reason to use a Q-disconnect is so you don’t need to try and cram 2 hands in to such a tight space.
Mine either. I wonder why some have them & others do not? Could it be that these were “early on” data plates and at a certain point they (RECAP program managers) simply decided to not put them on anymore? Or, did certain RECAP sites apply them while other modification sites did not...
I just noticed this tag when looking at other MWV’s. This is a 1987 M998 (I may have the year of manufacture wrong) that went through the program in 2009 and was then given the M1097R1 model. They call it a 1987 M1097R1.
This is my 1097R1. Based on the tach drive bolt being on the right this is a 6.5L engine. If the tach clamping bolt were on the left it would be a 6.2.
I’m tracking with you. RE the $50 glow plug harness. When looking up parts for my 1097R1 I am using the UPC (useable on code) of AVY. And I certainly understand that on any vehicle there will be specific items such as generators, etc., that will vary depending on how that vehicle is...
I made a power cable for work lights / spot lights on my 1083. I made a 35’ and a 40’ power cable. The work lights / spot lights I used are:
Military Work lamps 24 volt. NSN 6230-01-228-9577. P/N 1497550.
I plugged the power cable in to the 12 volt rotating amber warning light connector on the...
Let’s kick this thread back to life. So we know how to ID a 6.5 over a 6.2 but what are the differences in the engine itself? And, these might be a direct bolt-up but are all wiring harnesses & connectors & accessory brackets direct bolt ups or are mod kits needed?
It’s pretty much all been said. HMMWV’s are very reliable if utilized as intended. My ass sat in the passengers seat of a 998 for 14 years. We all understand that these weren’t built for speed or extreme off-road use.
In any vehicle that is altered, particularly with higher performance...
Did you find out what caused it to be sluggish? How does it rev up out of gear and sitting? I’m wondering if it’s just sluggish while in motion? Just spit-balling but is the fan clutch stuck on? That shouldn’t make it creep like a dog - but maybe creates a load? Is it more of a transmission...
The recapitalization effort was budgeted based on vehicle data & usage reports routinely sent in. IMHO - Therefore, I don’t think there was a decision made at the recap site (or Depot) whether or not to spend money or what to spend that money on since funding had already been allocated &...
