I just plug my deuce in to warm it up. I have heater pads on the oil pan, a battery warmer, and I just got hold of a blocker heater (which I hope to install tomorrow). The manifold heater switch also works well if I really have a problem. I have started it in -20F weather without a problem.
But...
$2500 is not the price that they came out the auction out east, but the average price of an iltis in Canada. Most came out the auction around $1000-1500max around here, and they were some of the last units the military kept and in good shape. The market was flooded with them as well as parts a...
The iltis is a great vehicle. It is a blast to drive and we never had any problems during the 6 years we have owned them. The only problem you will have is that you face will hurt from smiling all the time while driving it.
Fuel economy and a military vehicle do not go together. Enough said...
Thanks to tamangel (Mike) for this which answered my question in another post:

The M151's never really hit surplus up here. They cut them all up. They first cut them in two, but the guys would just buy the parts and weld them back together. So the military cut them in 4 and threw the parts into different containers every time so that no one could match them up.
Hopefully...
Nothing to do with the licensing/DMV offices up here, the military simply doesn't want them on the road for the chance that it might come back to bite them in case there is an accident or something (ie. You get in an accident where someone gets hurt and the media comes out with it being a...
A company in Beloeil sells the MLVW's.
At the moment you cannot drive them on the road as you cannot get them registered for road use. Several people are working on fixing that right now.
Looks like a neat experimental vehicle. Sadly it would only be good for off road use as it would rip up pretty much anything else it rolls over. But from the video, it looks like it was mainly designed for snow.
You can get switches like that at most automotive stores including NAPA. The technical name for it is a "battery isolation switch". Ask for a heavy duty one.
The battery cable size used on the deuce is 2-0 cable. For the length it would depend on where you are installing it. If you put it under...
I would recommend putting marker lights on at least the front and rear corners of the truck. That way anyone can see how big you are when going down the road. Though putting them all over doesn't hurt either. I really needed to put some near the top of the M109 because of the size of the box...
Yeah there have been a ton of posts about this before. I have posted twice just on this topic in the last 3 weeks. But I will do it again just for you ;)
I put a hidden kill switch in the truck as well. Took the power cable off the starter, ran it to the switch, then ran a new cable from the...
We had to install marker lights on our M109 and M35 to pass inspection up here. It involved installing 16-18 lights which brought it up to line with other standard trucks. We had no choice if we wanted to be allowed to drive on the road with them. I didn't bother buying military issue lights...
Nope. Nothing about coming into Canada at all that I could see. I have crossed back into Canada with military vehicles and all the border guard wants to know is the regular stuff (who you are, where you are coming from, and where you are going). We do not have any restrictions on those type of...
