?? Starting of in 2nd gear??

I guess i will try that method and see how it goes. My next question is do you even bother to split shift down? or just down shift in H gear?

?? Starting of in 2nd gear??

well, now that I know the name floating, I learned to do that in my 1982 Chevett and I still do it sometimes on my Triumph (bike not car). I know what Kentuky windage is but never heard of Georgia overdrive. So the 2nd Low wont affect the "woodruff"key but 2nd Hi will?

?? Starting of in 2nd gear??

I have to ask. What do you mean by "floating"

?? Starting of in 2nd gear??

Hey thats why i ask.... I guess I'll use first. The cars behind me will just have to deal with it. I actually searched for starting in 2nd gear and a lot of threads came up where it may have been mentioned but it would have taken all night to read thru 7 pages on this one and 5 pages on that...

    runaway engine?

I shut it down at one place for about 30 minutes, the other stop was only a 10 minute one so i left it running. (we were standing right next to it)

?? Starting of in 2nd gear??

Ok, we all know I am new to this and i am not ashamed to admit it.:cookoo: I took the beast for my first real local check-out ride. I quickly remembered how quick 1st gear climbs and seems to not be necessary when empty on flat ground. It seemed to handle just fine pulling off from a stop...

    runaway engine?

zeisshensoldt, I'm right there with you. I am not afraid to say I don't know the first thing about this. But I drove mine for to the store tonight. It was a hoot!:jumpin: Then I took it for a few stops around town.[thumbzup]

    runaway engine?

I am not a Diesel mechanic by any means but I am a geek/engineer that has been a welder since i was 16. That being said to simplify the reason why CO2 will not in any way hurt a motor. Co2 is a gas is a non flammable gas that would be replacing the air (21% o2 and 79% N) with co2 that cannot...

    bridge plate numbers?

I just use it to display the year of manufacture. It also happens to be the year I was born. :jumpin:

    M35A2 rim questions??

That's a good question. I didn't do them but I remember one of the previous owners mentioned that they were made from 2 different types of rims. Attached is a screenshot from the original add from 5 years ago (2 owners ago). I can send him a email and see if he had the rims made or he bought it...

    M35A2 rim questions??

You can put the 16 r 20's on a a2 with some work without bobbing it. My truck has it. the 3rd axle was relocated further back to accommodate this. Drive shaft was lengthened, torsion rods were lengthened, truck was lifted, hydraulic steering was added. But it looks KILLER Glad i bought it...

Headlights on, Headlights off, on, off, on, off .......

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I actually already installed the one I bought figuring the worst case scenario it would pop instantly. It didn't so it's staying in. However i still need to track down the blinker short. I think I will have to open up the connector to check there.

Headlights on, Headlights off, on, off, on, off .......

That's funny. Flickering lights are always a ground. No lights is usually a broken connector or something stupid. Have you checked to see that all the bulbs are not burnt out? Or the spider harness is connected?

Oh, BTW..... Welcome to the forum.

Headlights on, Headlights off, on, off, on, off .......

I am not a wiz at this yet but the brake lights should work in the stop light position. The head lights will not have power during this and its normal for a convoy. When it's in "service drive" the headlights and running lights and brake lights should work. I would look into the wiring at the...

    new wiring harness

Thanks.... but I think I'm ok for right now. The 24 volt 20 amp breaker is only 8 bucks. On the other hand, If you need me to service any like I am on this one let me know. Also don't throw away any old senders. I was able to clean up mine nicely with my ultrasonic tank. It's not big enough to...

    new wiring harness

The spider harness is cool (and cheap). Thanks for the link. I am dealing with the circuit breaker inside the 3 lever switch now. I have some good pics and updates in this thread. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/15602-headlights-headlights-off-off-off-3.html

Headlights on, Headlights off, on, off, on, off .......

OOPS  I caught myself. The part i bought is a 12 volt breaker. I am waiting to hear from napa for a 24 volt. but i did find it online for $8 at circuit breakers 12 volt to 48 volt heavy duty dc circuit Protection 10 to 300 amp.

Headlights on, Headlights off, on, off, on, off .......

I got a new breaker at Autozone for $3.95. This repair is a riot. Now that I know what pin the breaker is on I think I will add a inline fuse out side the switch to protect the breaker from a fatal hit. I think a 25 amp fuse will allow the 20A breaker do its job but pop with any over...
