Two days after that dirt track exploring I was packed and ready to start my run south.
I had been watching the winter storm that was moving in from the far north, but got delayed by a day harvesting fuel.
As I left, just after dawn, the whole western sky was black w/ heavy clouds. This was...
Here's the tank set-up that we did.
two 15 gal tanks w/ a 12v shurflo pump. I prefer to have my water in two diff tanks. If I get bad water somewhere, or a leak, I can cut one tank out.
There is still more than half the width of the bed for storage.
From all the views that those of us posting builds get I think you might be surprised ;)
I'm not looking for anything specific, just being a builder I love looking at the work of others. It is how we get inspiration to do that next " better than the last" build.
If we send you enough pm's...
We have one of those that I pulled out of the She Beast, in it's place I put in a 12v case fan to use as an stove exhaust vent. (the box is 12v w/ it's own batts & alt, and at some point soon solar panels) I'm planing to go the same route w/ this build as they are quieter and take up less...
Thanks,
In `99 I built a trailer that is 7' wide & 8' long w/ a bow top (kind of vardo style) that's been my home ever since. I now spend more time sleeping in Elise's 109 w/ her ;)
This 105 is bigger than that, and I can stand up  As I build it out I imagine I'll have even more in it...
Thanks, but after all these years of living in rigs & trailers I'm against cutting holes in my roof. It will always need to be maintained so as not to leak. Now it's true you didn't say to mount it on the roof ;)
I'm looking for the mil spec vents that we see on S280's / S250's and the like. I...
Got it back to base camp in J-Tree, time to do some more work on it.
First things first, . . . does anyone know where I can get vents like they use on the shelters? Or even what they are called so I can search them. Vents are def needed! Something about camping in the desert, in the summer...
:ditto:
We also have ours under the bed inside. Being that you're from the far north ;) I would be afraid to have a water tank outside. Some good freezes and you'll be needing another tank.
I've heard that if you use the budd nuts on singles that you should put the rear lug nuts on them as well. Seems that they are not strong enough by them selves?
Just scored a drum of ATF on my trip down from N. Nev. It ran great. It does smell like burnt ATF.
The drum that I pulled from had some water in the bottom, when it has water in it it looks like peto-bismal . . . bright pink.
I'm also collecting hard drive magnets to put around one of my...
We have loads of dirt tracks out here. Some are Fed land, open to all the people, in the form of National Forest, or BLM. BLM has gate policies that "if you find a gate open, leave it that way. . . If closed, close it behind you" We went through two gates on that dirt loop.
Some are just...
Up and running again
The new civi alt is in and the little Draggin' is up and running again.
Just to make sure all was good I took it out w/ a friend of mine. We did an 86 mile loop (most all on dirt tracks). Another one of those days where I spent most of it in low range :driver:
We headed...
Sometimes we use low range all day. Some of the dirt tracks we run aren't any good for high speed (over 30mph) ;)
I find low range is great for when I know we're not going to be going faster than 25mph. It lets us have 5 forward gears instead of 3. Just right for those 6 hour, 100 mile, days...
It's not that bad  I just spend mid-day siesta time under the trailer 8-)
Some more insulation, vents to get a breeze through, and outside shade netting to keep the sun off the roof/walls and it'll be at least a three season camper [thumbzup]
Didn't have any prob w/ the pulley (got it because I'm 100 miles from any kind of auto parts or machine shop and vehicleless)
The prob that I had is that the alt had less than an inch of movement between the rad hose and the primary mount.
I pulled the primary and did the same thing that...
I'm doing the same install. That wire goes to nothing in this set-up.
Are you able to get movement out of the alt in that position? I'm having to move my primary filter mount rearward.
