Wow 6 years! You sir have more patience than I. I cant even deal with it making a strange sound for more than a week. :-D

    Clicking Problem

The flex plate was fine when I did the tranny so I assume it is ok now as it was making the noise before that as well. The previous owner had it replace about 5,000 MI ago.

    Clicking Problem

Update: The sounds is defiantly coming from the bell-housing area and only when under a heavy load (can be reproduced by putting it in gear and holding brake and giving 1/2 pedal or more of throttle) was making sound when I bought it and then re-cased the tranny and it stopped. Then I removed...

lookin for upgrades for my 6.2 "84" 1 ton cucv

My m1009 gets about 18 but it has 308's in the rear and 35's. But I thought the m1008 got better than 10, but I could be wrong. Maybe your fuel filter needs changing?

    CUCV Worn out TH400 transmission???

Ya the tree thing wont work on an automatic since the torque converter wont let it stall since it is always slipping and you also cant up-shift while stopped.

    Clicking Problem

When I take my m1009 up a hill or it shifts into 3rd and I give it more than 3/4 throttle I can hear a clicking sound coming from the transmission, transfercase, engine area. It almost sounds like a hand-crank winch being turned at a normal speed. What is this? It only occurs when the motor is...

Hard to start... what say you is the problem?

What does it do? I had problems with those fuel filters so my truck has a hose from the inlet to the outlet on the fuel filter base and then goes into a in line fuel filter. So there is no filter on the base and I never have starting issues.

    Tranny Shifts (Again)

He was talking about the shift valve on the injector pump not the vacuum pump. Moving it towards the firewall tells the tranny to shift sooner. The modulator is what the vacuum line goes into on the side of the transmission it is on the passenger side right under where the dipstick goes into the...

    Tranny Shifts (Again)

It will always shift hard at wide open throttle as the line pressure in the transmission is highest then. You might want to get an adjustable vacuum modulator and see if adjusting that helps.

    Flywheel Teeth

I welded it and it seems fine so it is back together and I have put 5 starts and about 50 mi on it and no problems :-P.

    Flywheel Teeth

Ya I was driving down a dirt road and hit a bump and the starter just came on. I too had mine dangling down so I could kill it fast, but it took me a few second to stop, figure out what the hell was happening and kill it. It sounded at first like a belt squealing bad and then it continued when I...

    Flywheel Teeth

Well I am going to go for it and just keep at it untill they are identical to the others. I am pretty handy with a welder so hopefully it will work.

    Flywheel Teeth

Well my starter did the stick on thing while I was driving yesterday and I was able to kill it in about 8 sec. I pulled the inspection cover on the tranny today and all the teeth are fine except for two. They are worn down about 5/8 of the way and are right next to each other. I just finished...

    underdash starter relay.

Well while out on a trail I hit a bump and SQUUUUUUEEEEEKKKKKKKKK the stater engaged while the engine was running I was able to pull the relay after slamming on the braked and shutting the motor down it probably went for about 8 sec at most. I after pulling the realy and collecting my breath I...

    Idle Vibration Issue m1008

Sounds like you hit the resonance frequency of some sheet metal.

    1009 Tranny Trouble

When mine wouldn't shift I was able to force it to shift when I got to a little above a shift rpm and then shifted from D to 2 and back to D. If it shifts then at least you know it can shift. I am not sure what this does other than bring up the line pressure, but it may work.

    wobbly crank pulley

Well I inspected my harmonic balancer today and the wobble is only on the pulley not the harmonic balancer. I tried to wobble it by hand and it seems to be nice and tight. The balancer has no visible damage except for a small polished line from where a piece of braceting was just barely rubbing...

    wobbly crank pulley

So it isn't to difficult to do in the truck?

    Axle U-Bolt Torque

Well I looked in the tm's and here is what I found Tighten any loose “U“ bolt nuts to 40 Ib.-ft. (54 N•m) in an “X” pattern; tighten again in same pattern to 150 Ib.-ft. (203 NŽm) for front springs and to 145 Ib.-ft. (197 N•m) for rear springs. Tighten front spring forward mounting bolts to 90...

    wobbly crank pulley

Mine is doing the same. How expensive is a harmonic balancer and how hard it it to replace? Can I do it in my driveway? It has been like this for almost 6 months since I got it.
