I would just do a simple tension check on the belts, just push on the belts near center between the two pulley and see how much it deflects. (Engine not running of course). TM I believe lists the accepted deflection numbers. As for the alt i would check it by hand also by looking at shaft...

Working on a buddies 923a1 the fuel tank drain plug har been dripping slow so while we had it doing a service I said heck i will pull the plug teflon its threads and put a new gasket on it. BOY.... If only it was that easy. Went to loosen the plug and shot straight out of the tank plugged it...

Heater core is in the truck put up a good fight but its in but the sun wasnt on my side and i had to quit before i could plumb it all up again.

Found in my parts stash a heater core NOS. not sure if its a deuce or a 5 ton or what the nsn is but im betting i can make it work.
