My only reason for harping on the batteries is the fuel shut off. If it lost voltage it will not run. So i would get your voltage tested. I run twin 8d batteries and it work amazing, spins the motor fast and plenty of juice for my accessories.

I would just do a simple tension check on the belts, just push on the belts near center between the two pulley and see how much it deflects. (Engine not running of course). TM I believe lists the accepted deflection numbers.

Working on a buddies 923a1 the fuel tank drain plug har been dripping slow so while we had it doing a service I said heck i will pull the plug teflon its threads and put a new gasket on it. BOY.... If only it was that easy. Went to loosen the plug and shot straight out of the tank plugged it...
New/old/found heater core is holding tight. It was slightly different on the hook ups but it works and doesnt leak. Final plumbing is finished on the heater core and the spin on filter for the coolant.
