Yes did all that. There is a pointer up above the blower wheel so i set the engine to the pc mark then marked the blower wheel. I then put the new flywheel on, put the blower wheel back on the mark and double checked the pointer in the flywheel to be sure it was right on the pc mark again. No...
Hmm thats interesting. Pretty sure the valves are adjusted ok. I went through them a couple times. Ill check it again though. I think i will start by double checking the pump to make sure the timing is right as far as the gear being set to the cam correctly. Maybe its off a tooth. If thats not...
yeah its definitely getting a ton of fuel. how can fuel get past the injection pump? if the injection pump is dumping way too much fuel, to the extent i am seeing here wouldnt that indicate something is up with the pump? it seems like its just pumping massive amounts of fuel into the engine.
ok well i got to fire it up today. boy that wasnt pretty. got some issues and i think its injection pump related. so what was great is it fired right up, didnt struggle and i didnt have to crank it forever just to get her goin. problem is once it did fire it got faster and faster and pumped so...
you know i was gonna offer that up too oatey. i can do all of them on the set except for the wiring diagram on top of the control box. mine is shot and i would need an almost brand new one to get the design off of first, then i can reproduce it. all these others are just black boxes and type so...
I hope so. Whenever i restore something i like to improve on things as much as possible but still try and keep the original feel to it.
thanks btw!!
i cant spend the night working on the gen today. valentines day, i would really be in the dog house lol. so ill sit here on the computer for...
Yeah get rid of thise capacitors. If you look at my refurb thread i did a post with pics 2 days ago where i removed mine. To make it easy though you can cut the wire and use a butt/crimp connector and use some heat shrink around the connection.
ok tonight i made my battery cables. i picked up some real nice 1/0 rubber jacket welding cable, solder on ends and went to town. those are 34r batteries. seems to be about the biggest battery i could find that would fit in the original battery tray.
as i posted before i needed to make a...
huh, thanks but too late now. i ordered the whole thing. it seems like the float part on mine is ok but cant really tell. at $44 i guess it was safer to just buy the whole thing brand new. thanks for the link though. maybe it will help others
thanks neo!
ok i worked on the fuel pumps tonight. got them all mounted back on the bracket and back onto the gen. i decided to eliminate those noise suppressors. they just looked like something waiting to fail. i totally removed the wires from all 3 pumps and soldered on new. i got an...
I managed to track down the fuel gauge. They are avail brand new. You buy the whole thing not just the dial. Rochester gauge still has them. Its model 8680. The guy i ordered from didnt stock rochester in the length i needed but had a different brand in stock...
If its just the gauge goto surpluscenter.com and in the search type generator. They have the military gauge panels for $59 that have a 60hz frequency gauge in it.
Great glad it worked out for you. Everytime something feels a little too snug i instantly grab my little torch. Saves alot if trouble and twisted off bolt heads
